A Request for Church School Teachers....

Dear Parents of First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown Sunday School
Children:

Have you ever had the feeling that you would love to teach, work with
kids or just to give something special of yourself back to the church
community?

This coming year, more than any before, the First Presbyterian Church
of Yorktown Sunday School truly needs your help. For many years, we
have had a core group of dedicated individuals who shared their gifts
with your children by donating their talents and their time to teach
some of our “Centers” (which include Art, Cooking, Media, Faith Today
and Moved by the Spirit). But unfortunately, a few of these wonderful
people have had to bow out, and we find ourselves with a short staff
situation.

I am reaching out to the entire Sunday School family to see if there
is anyone who is willing to take on a teaching position this coming
year. We are also in need of teens who would like to assist in the
different centers for the hour. They are a tremendous help and the
kids really relate to them.

We need to fill some openings in Cooking, Faith Today and Moved by the
Spirit. We like to have more than one teacher in each center so that a
team can work together and to cover Sundays when the other cannot
attend. And it is nice to have a teen to assist in each center.

It would be nice to bring in new faces with new ideas and new
enthusiasm. It is a big request, but I am hoping there are some of you
out there that have the desire. And, if your child is going to be
there for the hour, why not make your time there productive as well?

If you are a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown, and
are at all interested (or have any questions), I request that you
contact one of us as soon as possible. Staff Orientation is Sunday,
Sept. 12th at 9:30am (prior to the Church picnic). Sunday School
begins September 19th (with the first two weeks being a special
“Communion Education” experience) and the regular center rotation
begins on October 3rd.
