Prayer – Gram from the First Presbyterian Church of Redding

In a world filled with chaos,
we pray because prayer is the antidote to anxiety
There simply is no greater work, no greater calling,
no greater ministry than that of intercessory prayer.

Requested by – Lou Ann Perry
For- Her mother, Dorothy Mayo and their family
Prayer for – Against her will, my sister and I moved our mother, Dorothy Mayo from her 6-bedroom home in Pleasanton to assisted living at The Vistas. She has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
My mom is not trying to adjust to living here and only will say to anyone and everyone that she "just wants to go home". We just would like her to make some attempt to try it here, as I don't know what the alternative would be.
Thanks for praying, this is a heavy burden and it’s so painful to be blamed for everything by mom. I also really need wisdom and guidance as to what to do with her dog.
Thanks so much,

Mathew 18: 19-20
"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

1 Corinthians 15:57
"Thanks be to God. He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ"

Billy Graham once said, "God Himself is the power that makes prayer work."
"The three most important things you can do are ... pray ... pray ... pray." —Billy Graham
Grace to you and peace, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ

For- (Update) Her mother, Mary Onwiler
Praise & Prayer for – Thank you all for your prayers. PTL the MRI final analysis showed that my mom did not have a stroke. She does have two small brain bleeds as a result of uncontrolled hypertension. She is in extreme danger of having a stroke if her blood pressure spikes again. She has been on IV blood pressure meds since being admitted and hopefully, will be released from Mercy today (Tuesday).  Thank you all again for your support and prayers.

For- Her mother, Mary Onwiler
Prayer for – Please pray for my mom, Mary Onwiler. She has been admitted to Mercy Hospital for a stroke work-up; CT scan and MRI. This was recommended by her ophthalmologist and neurologist due to results of a test run on her this morning when they found 80% left eye constriction indicating a stroke in the last three months. Initial ER review was suspicious for possible bleed in two locations of her left brain along with a possible recent stroke. Final read by neurologist has very open-ended finds but in consideration is a lacunar ischemic stroke in her left cerebellum and 4th ventricle as well as MS related optic neuritis or choroid plexus calcifications. The MRI will provide the final diagnosis. Until then she will continue to be worked up for a likely stroke. The MRI will not occur until Sunday at best and she will be impatient until possibly Tuesday due to the holiday and weekend.
Please pray for wisdom and discernment by the doctors and they evaluate the results and determine the best treatment course for her. Prayers also for our family as we go through this journey with her. She has lived with MS for well over 40 years, beating the odds that she was given when first diagnosed.

Requested by – Alice Montgomery
For- Alastair & Catherine Rundle
Prayer for - I received this from Catherine. They are feeling overwhelmed and vulnerable. And have asked for the prayer chain to enlist in prayer. They’ve been told they have done nothing wrong and how unusual this situation is.
So yesterday afternoon Alastair saw his local cardiologist and she was very concerned about his wound on his right side. She believes it is infected and that his current device needs to be removed. This is a very scary prospect as he can’t live without a pacemaker and neither side of his chest is healed enough for a new implant. The doctors are talking with each other about options, and tomorrow’s visit to the surgeon in Chico will allow him a closer look.

For – Norman & Mary Jean Phelps and family
Prayer for – This is from Mary Jean Phelps, a former member who lives out of state now.
“My husband Norman is in late-stage Alzheimer’s and now has a lump the size of a grapefruit on his left breast. I got the information this week that it is cancer. Doctor hasn’t spoken yet to me, but I will not put Norman through advanced treatment. Please pray for him, and for me to be wise in my decision making. Also, for peace of mind as our family goes through this journey with him.”

Requested by – Church office
For – Spectrum School
Prayer for – Please pray for the students and staff of Spectrum School. They have started a new school year. The children have special needs. There are new staff members. Please pray for discernment for the staff. Pray for the students that they would experience God’s peace that goes beyond understanding and that they would learn. Pray also for the families of the children. Pray that God would bind evil, pray for the salvation of all and that God would be glorified in all of it.
 Thank you.
