March 30, 1943 - June 10, 2025
On Monday, October 6, 2025, Loyd will be remembered at 9:30 am with a military honors service and interment at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo, CA, Celebration of Life following at First Presbyterian Church Chapel, 2315 Placer Street, Redding.

March 30, 1943 - June 10, 2025
Loyd Dodson passed away on June 10 at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California due to complications from surgeries.
Born in Twin Falls, Idaho, Loyd was the child of Jack and Freda (Peg) Dodson, both deceased. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Lt. Jack LeRoy “Butch” Dodson; also, recently his sister, Karen Roemer of Texas. Loyd is survived by his two sons, James (Jim) and Jack (JD) and Katie (wife) of Boise, Idaho. Also, his wife, Lois, of Redding and her son, Lucas, of Portland, Oregon. Plus, additional family and friends.
Loyd graduated from Kimberly High School in 1961 and went on to attend Idaho State University. He later served in the United States Air Force part of the Sentry Canine Corps. During and after his military service Loyd worked on the family farms in Hanson, Idaho.
Following his farming career, Loyd relocated to California, where he became a travel tour guide and charter motor coach driver. Throughout the years he was behind the wheel at Frontier Tours, Paradise, and Mt. Lassen Motor Transit, Red Bluff.
In his retirement he embraced his passion for golf along with Lois & family. And put many miles on their RV’s and motorcycles.
