Prayer – Gram from the First Presbyterian Church of Redding
Serving Christ & Community since November 17, 1878
146 Years in Redding, California
In a world filled with chaos,
we pray because prayer is the antidote to anxiety
There simply is no greater work, no greater calling,
no greater ministry than that of intercessory prayer.

Requested by – Nancy Streeter
For – Her brother, Steve Streeter
Prayer for – I had asked for prayers for my brother Steve, who was diagnosed with ALS.  He has been dealing with slurred speech and trouble swallowing. He celebrated his 74 birthday on Thursday.  He let us know that his church in Davis has organized a team of people to help him.  At the same time, he has been working to place his wife Nancy J. (Jones) in memory care.
During church yesterday he sent another text that he had to go to Sutter Hospital with severe stiffness.  A friend drove him there.  Nancy J was with them.  At the hospital she had chest pains.  They checked her out, then a friend drove her home to take care of her.
This is a sign that Steve's ALS is advancing.  The stiffness will affect his mobility, so he will lose his ability to drive.  We're thankful that he can communicate with us with his cell phone.

Mathew 18: 19-20
"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.
For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

1 Corinthians 15:57
"Thanks be to God. He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ"

Billy Graham once said, "God Himself is the power that makes prayer work."

Requested by – Barbara (McPherson) Morrison
For – Herself
Prayer for – In church this morning Barbara asked to be put on our prayer chain. She is suffering with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in both of her eyes.
  • AMD affects the macula, the central part of the retina responsible for sharp, central vision.
  • It can cause blurred or distorted vision, and in some cases, a blind spot in the center of the visual field.
  • The National Eye Institute notes that AMD is a leading cause of vision loss in older adults.
Please pray for Barbara and her doctors as they try to stop the progression of this eye disease, which is more common in the elderly,

For – Leigh Perry
Prayer for – My son Craig's wife, Leigh Perry, is at Mercy Hospital for weakness and shortness of breath. Pray for a correct diagnosis and effective treatment. They just returned from a trip, and she couldn't do much they wanted to because she just didn't have the energy. Pray also that this will draw her to the Lord.

For – Her brother, Steve
Prayer for – My brother Steve has slurred speech and trouble swallowing. He has just been diagnosed with ALS.  He is able use his phone to communicate for him.  My adopted nephew Nathan who died in 2022 had cerebral palsy and used a speech device.  So Steve was already familiar of alternative ways of communication.  As the disease progress physical limitations will come.  At the same time he has the challenge that my sister-in-law Nancy J (Jones) has dementia. He is looking into memory care for her.

Requested by – Lana Hill
For – Her sister, Brooke
Prayer for – My sister Brooke is declining rapidly and is now on oxygen to help her breathing. Please pray that the Lord would have His hand upon her. Please pray for His mercies at this time including peace and comfort. Please also pray for our family, that God would guide and direct us and that He would be glorified even in this.  Some of the family are not saved. Brooke is a widow and does not have children but has many nephews and nieces who love her.
Thank you,
