Prayer for – Angie has shared the following obituary with the story of her sister Terisa, an amazing, woman of God. Please continue to hold the family in prayer as they work through this loss.

Terisa Chantele Stover, beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend, left this world suddenly on December 6, 2025. She was 56 years old, a feisty and vibrant woman determined to love fiercely, pray hard, and work tirelessly to heal her patients. Her passion for God, family, friends, and country drove her every action. She is survived by her treasured sons Riley and Zach (Dusty), her parents, Ginny and Mike Stover, her sisters, Angie (Chris) and Ali (Justin), her nieces and nephews Gwenny, Eddie, Powell, and Josey, her loving partner and best friend Dave, his family, daughters Ashley (Adam), Claire (Daniel), and their children Chet, Colter, Luke, Zeke, and a large community of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, coworkers, and loved ones.

We offer these words about her life to all those who are struggling with the loss of dear Chantele and in remembrance of the beautiful person she was and how she touched the lives of each and every one of us.

Born in Hawthorne, California on June 12, 1969, her childhood was spent in Santa Clara, San Jose, and Milpitas, California. As a precocious, determined child she pursued every diverse interests her parents would allow - Bobby Socks, student government, cheerleading, debate, and sewing, just to name a few. Most importantly, she formed her first friendships that lasted throughout her life. As a young adult she lived in Southern California, attended Long Beach State, and spent time in Huntington Beach living with her sister, and best friend, designing fashion, learning to surf with her cousins, backpacking through Europe with Angie (and Grandparents…long-story) and of course, making more friends.

A lifelong learner, she graduated first from Chico State with a degree in exercise physiology which led her to working for the Shasta County Department of Public Health, developing a new program to improve children’s health and physical education in schools. Because she always had more than one job, she also taught the first water aerobics classes at the YMCA in Redding during this time. She later transitioned to working for the Women’s Refuge (now One Safe Place), and became an ardent supporter of the organization, sheltering and advocating for women in need. Later, she attended UC Davis to become a Physician's Assistant, where she spent the rest of her career working in family practice, orthopedic surgery, rural clinics, as a hospitalist and in the ER, critical care, in hospitals in Eureka, Redding, Bieber, and Alturas. In addition to working full time, she quietly and proudly made time to serve her country in the Navy Reserves. She was pursuing a Master’s Degree in International Medicine this year. As a young woman, she received the greatest gift in her life: her children Riley (born in 1992) and Zach (1993). She moved back to Millville when Zach was a baby and Riley almost two. The boys attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Anderson. Although she sometimes struggled as a single mother, like when she worked full time at Denny’s while trying to finish her first degree, Chantele rose to every life challenge with grace, supported by her family, friends, and her deep faith in God. Anyone who knew Chantele, knew she was a dynamo, kind, loving, and strong, but also that she had a deep sense of justice and the most generous heart. She had seemingly endless energy to mother, work, support friends, and volunteer. She made life-long friends with her genuine caring and exceptional listening skills. She would volunteer at the church, in schools, with the Future Farmers of America, coaching the girls high school softball team at Bishop Quinn Catholic School - if anyone asked she would find a way to help. In this same way, she regularly gave to those in need. Many of us remember times she gave her last $20 to someone when she wouldn’t be paid in another week and when she gave her new coat to a person who was cold. She was wildly spontaneous. Her loved ones smiled when she showed up for a visit, a phone call with a funny story, a prayer to comfort, or a bucket of chicken. Although you might not know when she would arrive, you knew you were in for a treat. She had always dreamed of making a home in the country. She purchased a farm in Adin (hoping to raise feed for Exodus Farm). At the age of 49, she found what was to become her final home in Alturas, working for the local hospital, finding a new community of friends, and the love of her life, Dave. She loved going out in a robe at 5 am to help Dave feed the horses, learned to play golf, and delighted in being “Papa-tele” to Dave’s grandchildren. She loved serving her community in Alturas at the Modoc Medical Center and will be greatly missed.

We mourn the loss of Chantele and invite you to join us in grieving at any or all of the following events.

For – Her family

Prayer for – This morning, Angie’s sister was killed in a traffic accident in Alturas. Angie believes her sister was more than likely killed instantly as it was a semi vs SUV situation. Her grandchildren were in the vehicle also but were unharmed. Her sister was 56 years old and has two sons. Angie says she was “the most devout Christian I know and one of the most beautiful souls ever. She is for sure in her favorite place now with her Lord.” Praise be to God for that comfort.

Please pray for all of the family as they deal with their loss and the aftermath of this tragedy, especially at this time of year.
