Prayer – Gram from the First Presbyterian Church of Redding

In a world filled with chaos,
we pray because prayer is the antidote to anxiety
There simply is no greater work, no greater calling,
no greater ministry than that of intercessory prayer.

For – Update on Steve Streeter and his wife Nancy J.
Prayer for – We are thankful to the University Covenant Church in Davis for their support for my brother Steve and his wife Nancy J.
Steve's ALS symptoms affect his speech and ability to swallow. He was in the hospital last month where they gave him a feeding tube. His adopted son Nathan who had cerebral palsy had a feed tube. Steve has mobility so he can still play tennis.
Today Nancy J will be moved to memory care in Woodland. This will give Steve peace of mind, knowing that she is in a safe place. She has the kind of dementia where she wonders off at times. Steve can focus on his own health journey.

"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.
For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."
1 Corinthians 15:57
"Thanks be to God. He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ"
Billy Graham once said, "God Himself is the power that makes prayer work."
"The three most important things you can do are ... pray ... pray ... pray." —Billy Graham

For – Vicky Engelbert & Brooke
Prayer for – My husband’s sister, Vicky Engelbert, is struggling with kidney failure and an inability to absorb certain nutrients, which is part of the reason for the kidney failure. She is starting dialysis. Vicky is a Christian. Please pray for healing and
comfort. Pray that God would surround her with His care, hesed and peace.
Also, please continue to pray for my sister, Brooke. Pray that God would keep her in His care and draw her close to Him.
Thank you, prayer warriors, ♥
Lana Hill
NOTE: The Hebrew word "hesed" is a multifaceted concept that doesn't have a single English equivalent. It encompasses loyalty, love, mercy, kindness, and grace, particularly in the context of God's relationship with humanity. It often describes God's steadfast
love and faithfulness to His covenant with His people.

For – A family member
Prayer for – I’m requesting prayer for a family member who has struggled over the years with suicide and recently overdosed on Tylenol, ending up in hospital care for the past week. Evaluations are being done to determine if there is liver damage from the Tylenol.
She will then be going on to the Mental Health ward for observation and care. This is a heartbreaking, frustrating, and challenging situation for me as the situation has been repeated several times. Please pray for the healing of body and spirit for this loved
one, and for me to have endurance, strength, and grace to spare in responding to the situation. Thank you all for your love, support, and prayers. My relative’s name is being withheld, but God knows and that’s all that matters.

For – (Update) - Loyd and Lois Dodson
Prayer for Loyd Dodson – As previously shared, Loyd was taken to Mercy Hospital by ambulance May 23, Friday night. After tests he was diagnosed with an abdominal aortic aneurysm. He was then flown, during the night, to UC Davis for surgery. Today Monday,
May 26 an MRI was taken revealing an ulcer which had popped so Lloyd has undergone a SECOND surgery which is for the bleeding ulcer.
By phone calls throughout this day of May 26, prayers have been requested from fellow Parishioners at First Presbyterian Church. Since Loyd has now undergone back-to-back surgeries, all who realize Loyd’s weakness medically understand his greater need for
prayer. Gratefully All share their hope through words of concern that their caring words with God, their heartfelt thoughts will make a difference. — Let us continue to keep both Lois and Loyd close in prayer.

For – Her brother, Steve Streeter
Prayer for – I had asked for prayers for my brother Steve, who was diagnosed with ALS. He has been dealing with slurred speech and trouble swallowing. He celebrated his 74 birthday on Thursday. He let us know that his church in Davis has organized a team
of people to help him. At the same time, he has been working to place his wife Nancy J. (Jones) in memory care.
During church yesterday he sent another text that he had to go to Sutter Hospital with severe stiffness. A friend drove him there. Nancy J was with them. At the hospital she had chest pains. They checked her out, then a friend drove her home to take care
of her.
This is a sign that Steve's ALS is advancing. The stiffness will affect his mobility, so he will lose his ability to drive. We're thankful that he can communicate with us with his cell phone.
