I am pleased to announce that for the first time every, The Fellowship of Christian Magicians is having a convention in Marion, Indiana on July 16-20 with a face painting track!  I'm sooooo excited about this.  (Marion is an hour + drive or so from Indianapolis, so that's where you'd fly into….then carpool with someone to Marion otherwise.)

We stay in dorm rooms.  Cost of all the days INCLUDING all meals, housing and registration is only $270 (if you are an FCM member, which I think only costs $25 a year to belong.)  (And if you don't want to attend ALL face painting classes, you can go to clowning, chalk art, puppets, etc.  There are pictures on the web page from last year.)  You really can't beat this price for EVERYTHING!  Geez, a regular convention would cost you almost that price plus about $100 a night for a hotel room, and about $30+ a day for meals, so you'd normally spend over $1,000 for what you are getting for $295 (including the membership).  Yes, I know this sounds too good to be true, but this convention is the best kept "secret"…..they don't publish enough for most people to know about it.  Instructors don't get paid at all at this convention and that's how they keep it inexpensive for everyone else.  It's our way of giving back to the Lord.

We are having 4 days of face painting classes.  To sign up, go to  http://fcm.org/convention_option2_registration.php.  I don't know if the web site has the special $270 price or not, but it should.  If you can't get it to come out to $270 for all of it, email me.  I can copy a form and send it to you.   But you get to attend all days for that price if you are a member.  Membership is offered online, too, and comes with a really nice magazine.

SIGN UP TODAY!!!!!!  You HAVE to register by June 1 to get that deal.

I'm instructing.  Donna Branham is one of my teachers.....she's been teaching for 15+ years and clowning for over 20.

Usual beginner stuff?  Yes and no.  As you can see from the class structure....Tues. morning (the usual....beginner stuff)

Tues. afternoon....intermediate and advanced.   You'll probably see a LOT of new stuff here than what's normally presented at clown conventions.

Wed. all day.....This class is designed to get you to think and think outside the box.  Two instructors will be presenting at the same time.  Let's say, doing a penguin.  But they will both be doing DIFFERENT penguins.  Two will do a tiger.....but both doing it DIFFERENTLY.  Two doing dogs, but both doing it DIFFERENTLY.  I want people to start thinking about how they could do their own....and not just doing something one way.

Thursday - Dawn will probably do a lot of masks in the girl's class.  She's a relatively new teacher.
Robbie Hays will do a class using jewels and feathers, etc.  She's been around for years and I've seen her work and it's to die for....very intricate, etc.  She's was one of the few chosen to be in the body painting contest in FL. at Marcela's convention.

Friday will be a session on asking whatever you want to know.....This is not necessarily a structured class, so there may be a LOT to be learned here.  Robbie owns her own company and hires out other people.  She's teaching the marketing class, so it should be a really good class as well.

Hope that answers your questions.  If any of you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

The dorms at the college are really nice....not your run down dorms like some schools.  Linens are included if you do the all week thing.  (I know that sounds strange, but in other years we've had to pay $8 for use of linens.)  And the food has been really good for college food, believe it or not....lol.
