This month at FP Syd, we have Chris Armstrong giving a talk about
Smaws, a New AWS Client Library for OCaml
The talk introduces "smaws", a novel AWS client library for OCaml, highlighting the language's suitability for cloud and serverless development, particularly with OCaml 5's enhanced concurrency through effects. We will delve into the design principles tailored for serverless environments within a functional programming paradigm, detailing the technical process of generating the SDK using AWS's Smithy definition language. Furthermore, the presentation will explore the ongoing efforts and challenges in cultivating an OCaml-native ecosystem for cloud development, outlining future work to expand its capabilities.
We also have space for lightning talks. If you have worked on something cool or read something interesting, take the stage and show us!
As usual, doors open at 6pm for networking and mingling, and the talk will start at 6:45pm.
Please RSVP on Meetup or let the organisers know if you are planning to attend.
