Hi all,

So, we are having an online meeting using Zoom.

Is anyone other than me paranoid about installing a binary from a company
with such a shoddy security record and possible ties to the CCP?

I tried to run the Chrome extension but that did not work for me. They
provide a Debian package but I am hesitant to install/run that on my main
video conferencing machine because that machine also has GPG and SSH
keys on.

Currently I am thinking of running it in a VM. Anyone else share my
paranoia? What are your solutions?

Cheers,
Erik

I Zoom from Chrome with no browser extension.

This leaves me without some Zoom functionality, but I don't mind.

I use it weekly for uni lecturing. Run it on a VM.

Hi Eric,

You can also install the Snap or Flatpak package (not sure if they provide AppImage as well). Apps using those mechanisms run sandboxed with limited/controlled access to your system.
