i've tried for the last hour to get c&c generals zh to work on my newly installed win7 x64 ultimate machine. i've tried creating the options.ini file in both generals and zh folders in my documents. i also set compatibility mode to windows xp (sp3)... i tried a bunch of other modes as well. and i am the admin but i set run as admin anyways. when you load the game the disc spins, the slash screen comes up and then the application doesn't respond and hangs indefinitely. any solutions or ideas would be appreciated

Ah, there it is! I was searching by command and conquer - generals. I'm going to try one more thing and verify WinXP is the 32 bit version and also try the 32 bit version of Windows 10...Not sure if that'll make a difference since I've tried compatibility mode to no avail.

1x Options.ini (you will need to edit this to match your own resolution in the following format [example]: 1080 720
NOTE: there is only a space between those numbers.
you need to paste the options.ini in my documents where you find a second generals zero hour folder as well, paste this one in there.

NOTE 3: To clarify: The "two game files" are called game.dat & generals. The latter of which is an .exe. The Updates are in a proprietary folder and the remaining file is called options (this is your options.ini I talked about). I do not know if YOUR game (which can be zero hour, zero hour from first decade or origins collection) requires the full fix. Rest assured you can try as the files are legitimate and do make the game work even if it was not necessary for you. The most important thing is that you set up the .ini file properly as this file tells your game how to handle the resolution of your screen.

then try to re-install the whole thing, run the game first (it crashes) and THEN install the fix into the my documents zreo hour file after you installed zero hour AND THEN after the fix you install ROTR in the program files of zero hour.

Messing with many mods could make your generals zero hour unstable , especially if you leave a file or two int the game's directory after uninstalling it , so I would recommend uninstalling the game completely and re-installing ,and be careful next time while installing/uninstalling mods :)
