Re the discussion a while back considering cost of municipal water, here is an interesting article.   Steve, I think you mentioned that the charges don’t reflect the true cost of the product.   Plenty of evidence for that here.

Yeah, municipal water is ridiculously cheap, especially in a desert
like CA.

The water in San Jose is so bad it killed most of my houseplants; I
had to switch to bottled water for the rest :P

I'm moving to Raleigh-Durham at the end of this month and I think/hope
the water situation will be a little better there. There's definitely
much more of it, at least.
