Nice article about electrolyzed water, which is both much more environmentally friendly and much more potent than chemical cleaners like bleach.

The downsides are that the potency is relatively short-lived, since the compounds involved are unstable, and it requires some sophisticated on-site equipment to produce and for process monitoring.

Cool stuff!  Sodium hydroxide, aka caustic soda, aka lye, has been around forever; this is a way to make a prediluted version without the costs of transporting cleaners.  Hypochlorous acid is one of the active by products of bleach.
