Iinstalled both Python 2.7 and Python 2.6.5. I don't know what went wrong, but nothing related to Python seems to work any more. e.g. "setup.py install" for certain packages don't recognize the "install" parameter and other odd phenomena...
where python --> yields nothing, and you are free to install another version from source / anaconda and (after adding its address to Environment Variables -> Path) you will find that very python you just installed
It's actually quite simple. When you installed it, you must have done it using some .exe file (I am assuming). Just run that .exe again, and then there will be options to modify Python. Just select the "Complete Uninstall" option, and the EXE will completely wipe out python for you.
I know it is an old question, but I ran into this problem with 2.7 and 3.5. Though 2.7 would not show up in my default windows uninstall list, it showed up fine in the ccleaner tools tab under uninstall. Uninstalled and reinstalled afterwards and it has been smooth coding ever since.
If you still have the python installer on your PC, you can double-click on it (run it, it will open the installer window), and select the "Uninstall" option. It will uninstall that python version (if the installer is for Python3.9, then Python3.9 will be uninstalled, if it is for Python3.10, then that version...)
Almost all of the python files should live in their respective folders (C:\Python26 and C:\Python27). Some installers (ActiveState) will also associate .py* files and add the python path to %PATH% with an install if you tick the "use this as the default installation" box.
I placed a copy of Python27 back in that original folder, at C:\Python\Python27, and re-ran the same failing Python27 installer. It was happy locating those items and removing them, and proceeded with the install.
You could have some insight to this by opening "regedit" and searching for "Python27" - a registry key appeared in my command-shell Cache pointing at c:\python\python27\ (which had been removed and was not present when searching in the registry upon finding it).
I uninstalled my previous version of node.js (0.8.11) and downloaded the latest, 0.10.24 from the node.js website and installed it. However, after running node --version, it still indicates that I'm running v0.8.11. Obviously, some stuff was left behind during the uninstall process, and it's causing me to have all sorts of errors when trying to add modules through npm. I've seen solutions to this for OSX and Linux, but couldn't find anything for Windows. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.
I ran into a problem where my version of NodeJS (0.10.26) could NOT be uninstalled nor removed, because Programs & Features in Windows 7 (aka Add/Remove Programs) had no record of my having installed NodeJS... so there was no option to remove it short of manually deleting registry keys and files.
I attempted to install the newest recommended version of NodeJS, but it failed at the end of the installation process and rolled back. Multiple versions of NodeJS also failed, and the installer likewise rolled them back as well. I could not upgrade NodeJS from the command line as I did not have SUDO installed.
SOLUTION: After spending several hours troubleshooting the problem, including upgrading NPM, I decided to reinstall the EXACT version of NodeJS on my system, over the top of the existing installation.
Now that Windows was aware of the forgotten NodeJS installation, I was able to uninstall my existing version of NodeJS completely. I then successfully installed the newest recommended release of NodeJS for the Windows platform (version 4.4.5 as of this writing) without a roll-back initiating.
In my case, the above alone didn't work. I had installed and uninstalled several versions of nodejs to fix this error: npm in windows Error: EISDIR, read at Error (native) that I kept getting on any npm command I tried to run, including getting the npm version with: npm -v.
If by mistake you tried uninstalling through cli (it will not remove completely most often), then you do not get the uninstall option in the control panel. In this case, install the same version of node and then follow step 1.
Control Panel -> programs-features -> turn on/off Windows features and deselect Windows Subsystem for Linux, and Save. A dialog shows you progress as it uninstalls. You must restart the PC to complete the uninstall.
Similar to what Rop suggested, but you can also use Powershell to completely remove the Windows Subsystem for Linux, with the advantage of not having to look for it in Control Panel. Note that you will have to run this as an administrator.
I have an issue with the New Teams. In the old Teams I had access to a guest account and could easily switch. After updating to New Teams - the account that get shown has a combination of the guest org and my own org. I have no way to switch to the guest account.
Then when I log out I see a list of other accounts I have used in the past. These are not guest accounts but actual login accounts. I don't have access to them anymore and they are not listed as organisations I'm a member of.
I have uninstalled Teams, deleted cache several time but I can not get everything deleted!
I have created a new windows profile to test and the issue does not appear there. (not the solution I want)
So how do I COMPLETELY DELETE / UNISTALL Teams? I want everything gone from my work profile so I can get a clean install that works.

This will help others to find the correct solution easily. It also closes the item.
Windows Credential Manager just shows 2 credentials for Teams, nothing new / different there.
This leads me to believe that the account info is stored somewhere else on my laptop. The question is where?
@ErikG1970 No unfortunately no solution. Apparently the settings are so deeply rooted I can't get rid of them. I even left the organisation I was quest off to see if I could log in to the new version. This worked. However the minute I re-joined the organisation the problem returned. I've now created a new windows profile since there is no other solution.
If you manage to find a solution please so let us know.
I bought a new computer installed windows 10. Firefox downloaded OK. When I installed Thunderbird v51.1.1 it already had my email address. My email server details were not correct, I have tried to amend them but can't. How can I completely remove Thunderbird along with all it's settings and profiles and start over again. I have uninstalled TD now 3 times with no success.
And don't worry too much about these folder names. They are internal labels that allow Thunderbird to uniquely associate accounts with the folders that hold their data. They are not necessarily the actual working server names.
You seem to be aware of the profile. HelpTroubleshooting Information will take you to it. Then you can close Thunderbird, navigate up to the "Thunderbird" folder, delete it and start over.
Doing a clean install of Thunderbird for me is not a problem, I replaced a Desk Top two years ago and did a new install of TB with the data from the old desktop using W7, It took about one hour. This time it's a new Lap top and i am upgrading to W 10. I use Allway Sync to to keep the Desk Top and my Lap Top updated with each other so it is Imperative the data is identical. Why can't I erase the profile when uninstalling TB?. This is my problem.Regards Mike
It's just a folder. The design assumes that the data in it is precious and so it shouldn't be easy to accidentally delete the profile. And deliberately it is left in place when uninstalling the program itself.
It is evening here in the Far East and I have shut down my study for the evening. I will follow your instructions in the morning and let you know how I progress. Fingers crossed for a solution. Thanks againRegardsMike
Server settings. The file name is: C:\Users\MIKEMORETON HPLAPTOP\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\fzy0ciwb.default\Mail\
pop3.loxinfo.co.th. Where is says Profiles\fzy0ciwb.default\Mail\
pop3.loxinfo.co.th. It Should read Mail\
udon.loxinfo.co.th The only difference I can see is the pop3 text. I have tried to change it but could not. I have very limited IT knowledge>
I can receive email but can't send email. The Error message says: Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP)
smtp.3bbmail.com failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again. The server is working ok, I can send and receive on my Desk Top.Any advice will be appreciated.Regards Mike
Does your sync backup program include these files? Replacing the Thunderbird folder here with the matching one from the backup should put you back into business, assuming it is a copy of a working profile.
Incidentally, did you notice that Microsoft themselves have stopped using some pathnames with spaces? "Documents and Settings" became "Users", "Application Data" became "AppData". (I'm quite surprised they kept "Program Files").
Have now done a clean install, All is well but I cant send email. The SMPT server setting should be Port 25 but defaults to 587 which I don't know how to change. I have tried the edit option in Outgoing Server SMPT Settings but it does not work. Any ideas? I have double checked all of the other settings and all are OK.
Thank you for all of your help and advice in Installing Thunderbird 51.1.1. It is now installed and working OK. I now need to transfer my Address book to the new lap top. Do you have any suggestions, any advice would be welcome.
