I represent a community benefit nonprofit organization called
GameHearts. Our purpose is to promote adult sobriety through
alternative entertainment, which primarily consists of promoting
tabletop games (Customizable Card and Miniature Games, Role Playing
Games, etc). I welcome you to view our website below for information
on our program.
The reason I am approaching this group is because of something
that happens to everyone who is a gamer. You play a game and have to
buy boosters and starters to get more cards or figures, but you always
seem to end up with extras you never use. Whether it's those pesky
commons, those frequent uncommons, or that one rare you seem to get no
matter which pack you buy. Or its a game you thought looked cool but
then you just lost interest. And what happens to the cards and game
pieces? They end up in boxes collecting dust and no one ever uses
them. You end up spending more and more money looking for those
evasive cards or figures you do need and continue to let this
collection of unused gaming material grow. You only lose money on
these cards. Why not let someone else use them and get tax credit at
the same time?
If you have excess CCG cards or CMG miniatures you do not play
with, please consider donating them to the adult sobriety program,
GameHearts. The program is working toward the betterment of our region
through encouraging alternative gaming activities on Friday and
Saturday nights, as opposed to frequenting bars and casinos in the
area, as well as to inspire decision making and problem solving
abilities by teaching and promoting educational and strategic games
and activities, including but not limited to Collectible Card and
Miniature Games. Additionally, since gamers are a largely diverse and
wide-spread community, you may have contact with a broad range of
individuals who also acquire these kinds of extra games, and we are
hoping you might also forward our information to others who may share
an interest in helping, as well.
GameHearts is always looking for donations of excess cards,
figures, rulebooks and other gaming accessories to use in teaching and
promoting these games. We have few limitations on donations: 1) Cards
must be in near mint, ie, playable condition, since we promote
tournament level competition and worn cards are considered marked; and
2) individual donations must not exceed $5,000 in value (Should a
donation inadvertently exceed this, I have been known to "stagger"
them between two receipts to give full value), though any number of
donations can be made per year. This latter rule is one established by
the IRS, by the way, not by our program. Other than these
restrictions, we accept any donated gaming material in any quantity.
Yes, believe it or not, we do want all of your common cards!
If you'd like to find out more about the program or would like to
find out how else you might be able to help, feel free to visit our
website listed below.
I hope you will consider aiding our cause and spreading word about
our program. I look forward to receiving responses.
Collectibly Yours,
