| -- Hi, my name is Sarah, and I'm a volunteer with Organizing for America. In less than a week, I'll be hosting a Vote 2010 Kick-Off event, and I'd like to tell you why. In 2007 and 2008, my husband and I, along with our son, traveled from our home in Missouri to four other states to knock on doors for Barack Obama. Through my career as a social worker and my husband's as a physician, we've seen first-hand how desperately change is needed in America. Our work didn't stop after Election Day -- we were two of the millions of OFA supporters who fought for the historic health insurance reform that President Obama signed into law. And now, it's time to get voters energized again. We're hosting our canvass this weekend in our hometown because this is the most effective way to reach voters who understand, from their daily experiences, the need for change. And that's where you come in: There are events like ours all around the country -- including one in Providence starting at 12:00 PM on Saturday -- Will you come? Here are the details:
What: Providence Vote 2010 Kick-Off event
Can't make it to that event? Find others near you here.Where: The Avilas Residence 61 Tappan Street Providence, RI, 2908 When: Saturday, June 5th 12:00 PM ![]() As a long-time volunteer, I know that going door to door and calling voters are the most effective ways to turn out voters, especially those who cast ballots for the first time in 2008. These voters turned out for the first time to support Barack Obama. Now we need to make the case that their votes in 2010 are essential for continuing the historic change that has been accomplished over the last year and a half. Mobilizing these voters will make the difference. Will you join us in Providence on Saturday, June 5th at 12:00 PM? http://my.barackobama.com/KickOffEvents Thanks again, Sarah Sarah Starnes Volunteer Organizing for America |
