Number of times user has visited venue?

The number of times the authenticated user has visited a particular
venue, not just whether he or she ever has as in <beenhere><me>, seems
to be a bit hard to come by. Unless I'm missing something, it only
kind of shows up on check-in (mentioned in the text of <message>, not
really what I'm looking for). The information is visible to logged in
users on the site when visiting a page of a particular venue in a
little box labeled "your visits".

Am I just managing not to find this data? And if it's not there, is
there any plan to add this information to the API in the near-ish
future?

(PS: The number of unique visitors, also displayed while visiting the
venue page on the site, would be neat to have access to as well.)

both of these are not exposed for various reasons

we plan to add it at some future point (mid-term)

I'll be looking forward to that addition to the API as well.

In the meantime, I've had reasonable luck parsing the user's history
to get a count for the number of times they've checked in at each
venue--at least within their last 250 checkins.
