Hi Clowns,

I just wanted to share with you some announcements and upcoming opportunities for performance and professional development through Four Clowns.

1) I am happy to officially announce that Julianna has taken the reigns of Managing Director. I am excited about the possibilities her experience will bring.

2) Wednesday, April 4, from 7:00pm-10:00pm, Zach Steele will be teaching a Hospital Clowning Workshop for Four Clowns members only. If you are interested in participating in Four Clowns' medical clowning projects, this training is a requirement. I want to make sure we have a shared vocabulary and sense of etiquette when we travel to these hospitals, nursing homes, etc. Zach is brilliant at this kind of work, and I am very excited that he will be sharing this skill set with us. I'll also be chiming in with some of my experience from Clowns Without Borders. If you are interested in the relief clowning projects, company members who have gone through this training will receive priority. Please mark your calendars now as this training will be beneficial for a lot of our projects moving forward.

3) Speaking of our relief clown efforts. I have three projects in the works right now. I am working on dates and funding at the moment, but the opportunities are

  • Mutare Girls High School in Zimbabwe - I will be taking myself and two other clowns and we will perform a show for them and teach 10 days of clown workshop culminating in a performance that they create themselves. (10 days, plus 2 days on either side for travel)
  • Corazon de Vida Orphanage in Mexico - I will take myself and 2-4 other clowns and we will perform with and for the orphans there as well as providing other creative outlets. (3 days, Friday-Sunday)
  • Refugee Camps in Lesvos, Greece - I will take myself and 2 other clowns. There are several camps in Lesvos, and we will travel to the over the course of four days and perform shows for a wide variety of audiences. (4 days, plus two on the either side for travel)
  • The Bachelor Foundation in TanzaniaI will be taking myself and two other clowns and we will perform a show for them and teach 10 days of clown workshop culminating in a performance that they create themselves. (10 days, plus 2 days on either side for travel)

4) We have submitted an application to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's "Green Show," which performs in the off-times of the company's summer festival. That would be an opportunity over the summer in Oregon, and there would be pay for that. I will keep you posted on the status of our application.

5) We are already planning a holiday show this winter, which will be devised by ensemble and directed by Joe DeSoto. More information coming as details come together.

6) Four Clowns now has an official fiscal sponsor in the organization Play Matters!, a committee of the Souther California Advocates for Every You Child (SCAEYC). So Four Clowns can now accept grants and tax-deductible donations for projects. AND! We already have a donor.

7) We will be doing a crowdfunding campaign very soon. This campaign desperately needs to go well in order to fund our big projects coming up, so I hope everyone will support this campaign.

8) New website coming soon.

9) Regular Medical Clowning and Street Performance Clowning opportunities will begin in the spring around April or May, so keep an eye out for that.

That's it for now. Looking forward to big opportunities and great things for Four Clowns this year!

Best!
