Boulder County, Colo. - In the new era of climate-driven wildfires across Colorado, Boulder County is continuing its commitment to helping residents protect their homes and neighborhoods. The county is now accepting applications for its second annual Wildfire Partners General Rebate Program, which provides up to $500 in rebates for residents who take specific actions to reduce wildfire risk on their properties.
The program is open to all Boulder County residents who own or rent a home in the county and who perform approved wildfire mitigation measures at their property.
“Wildfire is a year-round threat that impacts all of us in Boulder County,” said Ashley Stolzmann, Boulder County Commissioner. “This rebate program is about empowering residents to take meaningful, preventative action. Every step we take today helps build a safer, more resilient community tomorrow.”
In 2024, 754 Boulder County residents received rebates totaling $327,583 within its five months of operation.
The 2025 rebate program will continue to encourage the four eligible wildfire mitigation actions from the 2024 rebate program:
- Fences are Fuses – Replace the five feet of fencing attached to your home with fire-resistant, noncombustible materials.
- Junk Your Junipers – Remove highly flammable juniper shrubs from your landscape.
- The First Five Feet – Replace the first five feet surrounding your home with noncombustible materials.
- Vents for Defense – Install 1/8-inch mesh screens or upgrade to flame-resistant vents to block embers.
Additionally, two new wildfire mitigation actions will be eligible for rebates in 2025:
- Cut the Clutter – Declutter under your deck to reduce the risk of ember ignition.
- Protect Home Base – Cover the bottom 6 inches of house siding with noncombustible material.
All qualifying work and materials must be completed on properties located within Boulder County. The application deadline for the 2025 rebate program is Oct. 10, 2025, and all work must be completed before Oct. 31, 2025.

About Wildfire Partners
Wildfire Partners is a nationally recognized Boulder County government program designed to help residents prepare for wildfires. Technical and financial assistance is available to residents of the county through custom wildfire mitigation assessments and certification, grant funding, educational events, community programs, a free community chipping program, and youth mitigation crews helping vulnerable individuals and communities.
The rebate program is funded by the Wildfire Mitigation Sales Tax, approved by Boulder County voters in 2022. The tax supports a wide range of wildfire resilience efforts, including landscape-scale forest and grassland management, community-level mitigation planning, and parcel-level home hardening initiatives.
