The disk image is available here Download OS X Yosemite but if I mount and run it it says cannot install in your computer I need the installer to make a bootable drive like this( bootable installer). I will then run the drive in a separate apfs volume as told by apple here Installing macOS on a separate APFS volume - Apple Support

Your installation file for Yosemite has had its digital certificate expire. Which means after a certain date it will no longer work. To work around this issue you open the Date & Time preferences pane, uncheck the box for "Set date & time automatically" & set the date back to just after the time Yosemite was initially released (October 16, 2014) then run the installer.

Well, it's actually a tricky one, since (sadly) that's a really unspecific error. It can be caused by many things. Though I guess it's not a filesystem error, since the installer booted up fine. So that's one reason out.

Another reason for your problem might just be that the installation is, as specified, corrupted. What does that mean? Well, a lot of times when burning files to a disk (e.g. burning an ISO to a USB drive), there might be a tiny error (maybe even a single corrupted byte) that will just ruin the structure of the whole file. Annoying, isn't it? This can be caused by many reasons. Maybe your file is bad, maybe your disk is bad, maybe your disk maker is bad (in which case I really suggest you try a personal favorite of mine called Rufus, which is also completely free, though sadly it's only available for Windows, so try to get your hands on one for a few minutes), and maybe it just happened randomly (yep, that happens. Bummer.). Go through option one, then if you have a legit, official copy of the installer, check your disk, then just try to burn the installer again. If it still doesn't work, switch to a different disk maker application.

I just installed Ubuntu on my Macbook and I did a mistake while installing so my hard drive is formatted. Now the OSX is gone.I just downloaded Yosemite.dmg and I want to create a usb/dvd installer from Ubuntu. I want to install Yosemite back on my Macbook. Is it possible to create a Yosemite DVD/USB installer in Ubuntu? If yes, how?

1) How do I get the Mac to forget or erase the previous install attempt so I can attempt another fresh install. It remembers which stage of install the installer is at be it for Yosemite or Lion. It keeps returning to the same stage and fails. Even after erasing the disk and partition, and resetting the PRAM.

In regards to your suggestions, arthur (thank you by the way), I am no longer able to install Lion (for some reason, when I run the installer, it seems to remember I had an install process running and tries to continue, only to fail - so strange...).

So I guess I can do your suggestions with Mavericks. Previously I had downloaded a fresh copy and made a back up bootable USB installer just incase. I also made a Time Machine Backup (but when I later tried to restore from the back up, even that failed half way through - thank heavens I actually didn't rely on that originally as I would have lost everything!)

In the last few days, I have tried everything and with Mavericks up and working, I decided I'd give Apple Support one more call. (I can't take it in to the shop as they suggested last time as I can't afford a repair at the moment so that's why I'm trying my best to solve this on my own). Apple Support agreed I had done all I could, so they put me through to the big guys and they had two suggestions (to determine if my Mac is the problem or if my installer is the problem). Here are the suggestions.

1) Download the installer via a different RELIABLE internet connection. (I was concerned my connection may have been interrupted and somehow corrupted the Yosemite Installer). If you don't have a way of hooking the computer up to a different connection, perhaps you have a mac book pro that you can take to a friends house to download it via the app store that way. Or alternatively, ask a fellow Mac user to download the Yosemite Installer and give you a copy of it on a USB. Then if you have an OS up and running, drag it to your App Folder and launch. (Maybe create a bootable USB of the new installer just in case). If the new installer doesn't work, it's a problem with the Mac.

2) If you have another Mac computer (I have two other mac book pros), back them up (manually and then via time machine if pos....), transfer the original Yosemite Installer to it's App Folder and launch it. This way, if it works, we know that the installer is not corrupt.

I decided to try with the second suggestion as I haven't had access to another internet connection today. I have backed up a seperate computer and transferred the Yosemite Installer. I shut down the computer, and restarted it in Safe Mode. Then I launched the installer. The computer restarted and I pressed Shift to get it back in Safe Mode. (I think this worked but it's hard to tell). The installer (with the apple above the bar), loaded half way and then stopped. I waited for ages and read someone elses suggestion for disabling the WIFI and then restarting. SO, after a few restarts, I found a way to turn off the WIFI, and then I restarted again with SafeMode. It restarted, loaded the installer and proceeded to the Yosemite Installer. It took about half an hour but apparently has completed the install without any error messages. It has just restarted and the bar with the apple is loading again. I am supposing that if it worked, it will open up the "set up" section of the installer. I will report soon...

I recommend making one for Yosemite, on an external hard drive or USB thumb drive, for many of the same reasons I recommend making a bootable Mavericks installer drive: If you want to install Yosemite on multiple Macs, using a bootable installer drive can be more convenient than downloading or copying the entire installer to each computer. If you want to erase the drive on a Mac before installing Yosemite, or start over at any time, you can use a dedicated installer drive to boot that Mac, erase its drive, and then install the OS clean and restore whatever data you need from a backup. And if your Mac is experiencing problems, a bootable installer drive makes a handy emergency disk.

I had the same problem. You need to install the SQLite3 framework available here: 'm guessing that the version of the framework you have is old or that it's not symlinked properly but the installer available on kyngchaos website should fix it.

I've been using Spotify for a while now on my Mac (10.10.3) but recently the desktop player crashed and I was unable to open it. Unfortunately I do not have the exact error message that I received when it was unable to open. I've tried to do a clean reinstall several times and when I try to download the installer, my computer downloads the .zip file and then converts it to the "Install Spotify" file but when I try to open it, it says "An error occurred while trying to download Spotify" and then gives me the option to quit or download from spotify.com. When I click download from spotify.com, it links me back to the original download page and the entire process starts over.

Each machine in your backup domain must have Yosemite Server Backup installed. Designate one machine as the master server for the backup domain. Download the self-extracting Installer archive and install Yosemite Server Backup on the master server. Copy the installer to each client machine that belongs to the backup domain and install Yosemite Server Backup.

Begin the installation process by downloading Yosemite Server Backup Installer to the machine that you have chosen as the master server for your backup domain, After installing Yosemite Server Backup on the master server, copy the installer and install Yosemite Server Backup on each client machine.

Initially i backed everything up onto an external HD (no Time machine backup), downloaded the High Sierra.app installer (the small partial one), and ran it hoping that the upgrade would just work. During this process the full installer downloaded, the system restarted, and it stopped with the error "MacOS couldn't be installed on computer. Installer resources couldn't be found." At this point I created the USB installer via terminal (createinstallmedia) on a 16GB stick. I created the USB from the .app applicationpath and following the instructions from part (b) discussed here:

I have tested on my own Yosemite machine but I still need more testing. Could I ask the OSX users among you to download and run the installer from www.cabrillo.edu/dbrown/tracker/installers/Tracker-4.87-osx-installer.zip and let me or the whole group know how the new version works for you?

A major change in this new version is that the installer no longer sets any global environment variables like TRACKER_HOME, etc. Instead, TrackerStarter defines the environment. This, along with the private Xuggle engine, should make Tracker much less susceptible to failure caused by security restrictions imposed by the OS or Java VM. (This is what broke it in Yosemite.) I have high hopes for this new version but it does need testing--thank you in advance to all of you!

Hi, I have 4.87 Nov 9 installed but am running yosemite on a macbook pro. I have previously been able to install video up until the upgrade to yosemite. the forum site won't allow the video to be attached.

Hey Doug,

so after updating to yosemite, everytime i try to open tracker, it gives me this message "to open tracker you need to install the legacy Java SW 6 runtime." I've tried downloading the latest update of java multiple times but to no avail. Can you please help me on this matter? I've got a school project which requires the use of tracker and its not working!! Thank you so much
