All,

Our communication strategy has been to use the RPI internal list for the Foundry cohorts and this external list for open communications, of which there have been few.

We had a successful spring and are kicking off our summer term tomorrow.  If you are in Troy for the summer and starting your business, please stop by.

Best,
Jason

Sorry about the repeated message, but a few people were just added to the Foundry-RPI list.   For those of you getting this the first time, see the message below.

NOTE THE CHANGE BELOW TO THE ORIGIONAL MESSAGE.

The first meeting will also be on Tuesday (5/29) in the Pittsburgh Building 4206.  Lunch starting at 12:00 with the meeting 12:30-1:30.

Dear All,

Welcome to the first Foundry-RPI summer program!  You are officially the second cohort class of entrepreneurs F2-RPI.  I hope all is well and that you are excited about building your business this summer.

We will have a weekly meeting and I want to do my best to ensure that everyone can make it.  At the Foundry-UTAH they do the meetings at 7:00 AM on Mondays. I’d like to suggest 12:30 PM on Mondays for our meetings.  We can order some food and have lunch from 12:00-12:30 and hold the meeting at 12:30-1:30.  Towards the end of the semester we experimented with having a project review during the first half and having an open meeting during the second half.

Please let me know immediately if you are not able to make the meeting at noon on Mondays.

The first week will be more of an information and training session on the Foundry-RPI process and introduction.  I’d like everyone to just plan on introducing yourself and giving a 5-minute overview of your plans for the summer.

The first meeting will also be on Tuesday (5/29) in the Pittsburgh Building 4206.  Lunch starting at 12:00 with the meeting 12:30-1:30.

You can find additional information about the Foundry-RPI program at this shared directory.  We started last semester using only dropbox and ended using a combination of dropbox and Google docs.  I’m hoping we can transition completely to Google drive/docs and get the kinks worked out in the first meeting on procedures.

The Foundry program relies upon active peer mentoring.  If you know other entrepreneurs in the Troy area who may want to participate, please invite them to the first meeting.

We plan on running the program for 12 weeks, with the expectation of participation in 10 weeks of the program (2 weeks vacation).  We also understand that at times a customer commitment or other requirement may keep you from attending a meeting, but please make the effort to attend.  The schedule is at the bottom of this email.

If not all the terms here make sense, don't worry....we will clear them up on Tuesday.  For now, you should also start working on or updating your MOKR report.  This is the main planning document you will use for the summer.  I’ll be able to clarify any questions about the MOKR in the meeting.

1.     MOKR Training – If you are new to the Foundry program, the first component is creating your MOKR. Check out examples here and here.

2.     Contact List - Also, please add your name to the contact list.

Best,

Jason

P.S. There is a great article on the Foundry-Utah program.  We want to repeat this level of awesomeness at RPI.
