Hi there,

So, hello and welcome. :-)

Just wanted to drop everyone that's joined so far a quick note with
some background and ideas on what to do next.

I think it might be a great idea to start by introducing ourselves, so
I'll go first.

I'm Aditya, and I'm working on my first startup (as co-founder) called
Appify (http://appify.com and
http://http://aditya.sublucid.com/why-appify/) and have been doing
tech in NYC for about 6 years now. The blog is at:
http://aditya.sublucid.com/ and as you can see there's been quite a
lot of existential angst to get to this point ;-)

Now about the next steps, I'd like to shoot for mid-Feb for our first event.

Joe Conyers (who is on the list, hi Joe!) mentioned that PaceU might
be willing to provide space, and he will look into it.

I'm hoping we can start reaching out to people that would be
interested in speaking and off the top of my head, here's a list of
people that I, as a first-time entrepreneur would love to learn from:

1. John Maloney - http://localstops.net/ - also on this list (Hi, John!)
2. Chris Dixon - http://cdixon.org
3. Caterina Fake - http://caterina.net/
4. Jack Dorsey - http://twitter.com/Jack
5. Fred Wilson - http://avc.com/
6. Spencer Fry - http://carbonmade.com/
7. Seth Godin - http://squidoo.com/
8. Nate Westheimer - http://innonate.com
9. Charlie O'Donnell - http://thisisgoingtobebig.com/
10. Avner Ronen - http://boxee.com/
11. Scott Heiferman - http://meetup.com/
12. Dennis Crowley - http://foursquare.com
13. Naveen Selvadurai - http://foursquare.com
14. John Borthwick - http://betaworks.com
15. Andrew Weissman - http://betaworks.com
16. Howard Lindzon - http://stocktwits.com/

There's a lot of companies and people in the city and this is a
horribly incomplete list that I just came up with off the top of my
head, in no particular order.

This post has a longer list:
http://www.mikekarnj.com/blog/2009/12/21/new-york-startup-movement/

So here's what we should do. Make one big list, and then start
reaching out to those people, I bet there are people on the list that
already know some of these people and they should ask them if they'd
be interested in speaking so that we can figure out then when.

Thoughts? Criticism? Comments? Ideas?

Cheers,
Aditya
