FOUNDATIONS MENS PRAYER RETREAT!

WHEN? JUNE 17TH-19TH (FRIDAY EVENING TILL SUNDAY MORNING)

WHERE? BRAZO’S BEND STATE PARK

INFO ABOUT THE PARK: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/parks/brazos_bend/
(MIGHT HAVE TO COPY AND PASTE)

LOGISTICS: This will be our first Foundations men’s prayer retreat.
There will not be a set hour by hour schedule. We’ll focus on personal
contemplative stillness (If you’re out of practice or unsure about
these types of prayers, there will be some directions given my Byron
or myself) and community prayer. No fishing.

This will be a camping expedition, so dig out your sleeping bags,
tents, air mattresses (I will make fun of you), OFF, and marshmallows.
June will be rather warm out so dress for the season. Byron Fike might
also be able to join us. If so, he’s offered to give directions and
guidance for this type of prayer retreat. Even if you have zero
experience for prayer retreats do not feel hesitant, this will be a
great experience and I’m sure we’ll learn a lot from each other. Let
us take this time together and become refreshed with the Lord!

“…for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, but on the seventh
day he stopped working and was refreshed” (Exodus 31:17/ NLT).

Here is was the flow might look like:

Friday evening- set up camp, first prayer for effectiveness during
retreat
Saturday morning- personal reflection time, direction and guidance
through contemplative prayer
Saturday afternoon- meditative prayer, hiking, stillness, or however
you wish to focus on God
Saturday evening- community prayer and reflection, celebration of
togetherness
Saturday night- George Observatory, star gaze
Sunday morning- last call prayer and discussion about retreat and its
impact on you and your relationship with God, pack up, head home

As you can see we’d rather not follow a verbatim time schedule but
more or less a flow. This type of deep reflection takes shorter or
sometimes longer periods. Also different people reach God in very
different ways. Our focus for this trip is to reach those goals,
reflection and community worship!

We’ll work out our food needs as people respond. Even if you cannot
make this trip, email the group back so we can keep track of whose
coming or not coming.

Thanks guys!

Good afternoon gents, i'm happy to update that we have a reserved
campsite at Brazos Bend. It'll be $5 per person per day, not sure if
Sunday counts so bring $15 just in case.

Now on to the important stuff, below is a food list we will need to
feed us hungry men. It's up to each of us to divide up portions from
this list for us to bring and our wives to shop for!

Food items:
chips (3 bags) coffee
(jeremy, we need to get together on this one)
hotdog buns OJ
hamburger buns turkey meat
(for sandwichs)
bread
steak!!!!
cheese potatoes
(at least 4 large ones)
mayo sour
cream
mustard butter
pickles
aluminim foil
hamburger meat gramcrackers
bratworst
chocolate bars
cookies
cake balls (you know it, better get in the kitchen!)
marshmellows
2 dozen donuts water

steak sause

Seems like a lot huh? But there is going to at least 4 guys on this
trip, Friday afternoon till sunday morning.
Ramon has volunteered to carpool us to the park with the MAN truck.
Any suggestions on where to meet up at? The church has had past
vechicle break-ins, so we need to meet somewhere with lots of parking
and safe to leave our cars.

Its not too late to join up guys! Also we're planning on meeting up
tonight at Bullritos on nasa 1 to discuss our prayer retreat and mens
bible study, be there at 5:30pm.

Okay, thats all the news I have for now. stay tuned for updates!

Your brother,
Tommy
