Hi. This is a reminder that the Community Preservation Committee will hear the formal presentation by the City’s DPW for the proposed Irving Park Project. Below is an email you may have received from the DPW’s landscape architects about their revised plan. The meeting tonight is on Zoom, 7 PM, zoom Link https://watertown-ma.zoom.us/j/84202401207. (Sorry if you got duplicate emails.)

Subject: Irving Park Update
Good Morning -
Thanks again to everyone who attended our virtual community meeting back on February 16th. For anyone who was not able to attend, a recording of the meeting is available to view on Youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSQL-uI8Tx0
The thoughtful and constructive input from that meeting provided us some really good insights into the shared vision for Irving Park, and narrowed down a lot of the options between each of the designs presented.
Based on the information gathered on the 16th, MDLA has created a new consolidated plan which incorporates elements from each of the previous designs. This new plan will be presented to the Community Preservation Coalition for CPA funding consideration later this month.
The consolidated plan can be viewed and / or downloaded via a dropbox link here: Link
Plan Highlights Include:
· Expanded Central Gathering Area w/ Single Curvilinear Path
o No Stairs
o Moved East to Limit Impact on Larger Trees Roots
· Reduced Secondary Path / Seating at Royal Street End to preserve more lawn
· Reduced Lighting to Only Occur At Seating Areas
· Maintained Lower Canopy Flowering Trees to Park Ends to Maximize Lawn
· Granite Perimeter Curb Along Back of Sidewalk
We are excited to present this new design to the CPC. Once funding is secured, MDLA will finalize the design and develop construction drawings during the spring with the goal of having construction begin sometime in late summer (2022), and completed later in the fall (2022).
We will keep you updated as we proceed through the process. Thank you all again for assisting us with this project.
