For our site at <eu!err.html#col> (where BTW H3 titles and anchors are
necessary) a better image <eu!wyd.gif> for the reported color inverted
design.

Concerning the white stars version under the same H2 heading, at <
http://www.cartoonvirtualmuseum.org/eventos/pc/conc_europeu/conceurocartoon_2009_mh_italia_agimsulaj_p.jpg
> a cartoon about EU’s lack of political directions shows a
star-shaped rowboat with 5 prows and 5 rowers (caricatures of Heads of
State), each rowing away in a different direction; on its central mast
the boat is ensigned with what seems to be a white-star EU flag, maybe
with more stars than the canonical 12 — this cartoon was authored by
Agim Sulaj from Italy and was granted a Honourable Mention at the 2009
European Cartoon Contest.

Another cartoon <
http://www.cartoonvirtualmuseum.org/imagens/conceuropeu/conceurocartoon_2008_1prem.jpg
> shows an UE flag used as table cloth and showing 13 stars; it was
drawn by Musa Gumus from Turkey and was awarded the 1st Prize at the
2008 European Cartoon Contest.

On the same page of our site but at <eu!err.html#sta> the wrong design
is not to be contrasted to the «Flag of European Union, correctly
hoisted», but to the flag of European Union, correctly drawn, as the
outward poiting stars didn’t come to be by means of incorrect hoisting
(unlike the next case <eu!err.html#ups>, «Flag hoisted upside down»).
I must add that IMO contrasting the real thing when discussing
incorrect designs is a very good idea.
