If you go and download your data on snapchat online now and include your memories it will download every saved picture from people's chats, without notification to them even if YOU blocked them. How is this even allowed lmao
In the video at 37:01, we see the name of dream's data export file with what looks like a Unix timestamp of 1691651323667, which is Thu Aug 10 2023 03:08:43 GMT-0400 (EDT) according to This is consistent with the weird "10/Aug 0:8" thing with the broken data creation time that is there in the video.
At the same time we see that the export will "Expire in 2d 23h 48m". It's very probable it's a 3 day limit and 12 minutes have passed from when the data was created, and there's no reason to think he downloaded it much later than when he saw this and screen captured it.
The date modified times go back to Aug 10 at 7:15 AM. Assuming his computer time is also EDT (he is a Floridian so this is clearly true), this means a little less than 4 hours passed between when he would have downloaded the data and when it was last modified.
I am in my early 20s and I am amazed by how much people around me and of my age are trying to one up each other on instagram and snapchat and other social medias. How they have 1000s of followers yet I can bet they don't care about any of them. I used to be like that too.
so about a week ago I had my snapchat account permanently locked. I didn't even get a warning first or a temporary lock just straight to a perma lock. I posted a picture of Advil and a piece of gum my friend sent me on my story and within 30 seconds I was banned, I had no previous locks or warnings in the past so it was so unfair. I have retrieved all my memories through downloading my snapchat data on their website and my friends can still search up my account through the friends they already have added and can still message me but my account is not to be seen anymore on the "add friends" section. I am able to still log into my snap account on the browser version but not phone. All I am wondering is when your account is perma locked do they get rid of it completely?!
So, as the title says, I got an email saying that someone logged into my Snapchat account (I got their IP Address too) and minutes later I got another email saying that my "data was ready to be downloaded". Now the link for the data was on my email and my email wasn't found to be breached.
I downloaded my data fromsnapchat made in 2014. I expected every piece of information to be there, every message/conversation, every snap posted or sent etc. I was surprised to see none of that, only logins and only recent conversations from this year and as for snap images only the ones I have saved in the memory folder, not even the deleted ones which I expected to see. This made me surprised and wonder did snapchat delete all of that history prior to this year? Or are they only showing me a portion of data they hols. Is this also the same data law enforcement would get if they request it?
So I've learned that clearing data on apps is basically just like reinstalling an app, and you just have to sign in again. Is this true for Snapchat as well? I know for some apps this works differently, like for Whatsapp because it only stores data on your phone and not on a cloud or anything. Will my Memories and Saved Conversations be lost? Do I need to backup anything? I just need more space to update some apps.
i have already transferred my data to this phone from snapchat but now that im about to sell this one i want to shift this game my other phone but cant as they only ask for email or fb connection(i have noen on this as it is from Snapchat). would i have to start over on the new phone or is there a way for me to transfer the data by connecting my this acc to an email or something? (if any developers are reading please look into this thanks )
The hyperlink network represents the directed connections between two subreddits (a subreddit is a community on Reddit). We also provide subreddit embeddings. The network is extracted from publicly available Reddit data of 2.5 years from Jan 2014 to April 2017.
Subreddit Hyperlink Network: the subreddit-to-subreddit hyperlink network is extracted from the posts that create hyperlinks from one subreddit to another. We say a hyperlink originates from a post in the source community and links to a post in the target community. Each hyperlink is annotated with three properties: the timestamp, the sentiment of the source community post towards the target community post, and the text property vector of the source post. The network is directed, signed, temporal, and attributed.
Subreddit Embeddings: We have also provided embedding vectors representing each subreddit. These can be found in this dataset link: subreddit embedding dataset. Please note that some subreddit embeddings could not be generated, so this file has 51,278 embeddings.
For its 2021 social media usage survey, Pew interviewed 1,502 US about their social media habits, providing an overview of key trends and shifts in social media platform adoption and usage. Which, given the events of the last 12 months, has been impacted significantly, with most platforms seeing a rise in usage - but as noted, Pew's data reveals that the big players remain in charge, even with other apps gaining some ground.
And as noted, while there's been some speculation about Facebook losing ground to other apps, as it becomes less cool and less fresh, Pew's data shows that it still sees the most daily usage, beating IG and Snap.
That's anecdotal - Facebook's doesn't provide data on time spent in app, while the usage of Facebook Groups would also see a lot of people still spending a lot of time engaging on Facebook instead. But it does seem that while Facebook remains a critical connective tool, more users are spending more time elsewhere. We'll have to wait and see if Facebook reveals any further insight on this.
For this study, we chose to measure the news feed of the 10 most popular social media applications: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Reddit, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitch, Twitter, and Youtube. These applications are different in terms of functionality. We have chosen to compare them in terms of carbon impact, consumption of energy and data exchanged.
In terms of the exchanged data, the bad guys are the news feeds of the Reddit, TikTok and Pinterest apps. The good students in terms of data exchanged are Youtube, Twitter and Twitch. Reddit consumes 32 times more data than the Youtube app.
The average established for the data exchanged is 32.93 MB for this use, or 71% more compared to the 2020 edition. Only 3 applications are above this threshold. Watch out for your data plans! Projection in 1 month, you will have consumed 142 Go!
Some partisan differences also arise when it comes to who regularly gets news on some social media sites. The majority of regular news consumers on many sites are Democrats or lean Democratic. No social media site included here has regular news consumers who are more likely to be Republicans or lean Republican, though there is no significant partisan difference among news consumers on Facebook, X or Nextdoor. (Read the Appendix for data on U.S. adults in each demographic group and party who regularly get news from each social media site.)
More broadly, the steady growth in adoption that social platforms have experienced in the United States over the past decade also appears to be slowing. The shares of adults who say they use Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Twitter are each largely the same as in 2016, with only Instagram showing an uptick in use during this time period. (There are no comparable 2016 phone survey data for YouTube, Snapchat, WhatsApp or Reddit.)

In addition, Huffman has said a host of generative AI tools like ChatGPT scrape Reddit for a vast amount of data to help train AI models. Reddit says it does not get much from that arrangement, saying it's time for the companies behind AI tools to pay up.
Huffman has said that the charges will impact third-party apps that are the heaviest users of Reddit data. He said about 90% of third-party Reddit apps can still access the website's data for free, though the most popular outside apps will soon be getting a bill from Reddit.
Reddit first announced the changes in April. Back then, it said not all developers will be affected. For instance, it says it will still allow researchers and academics to have free access to its data.
