This is River, 11 months old, male, Husky given up by owner because breed is not allowed where they live. Owner said he lived with a 10yr old child and got along with another male husky(his brother) and played and got along with dogs away from the home too. Owner said he is housebroken, crate trained, good in the car and loves rope toys.
Here at the shelter, he is happy, friendly with people, loves his walks, came in very underweight (32 & 35lbs) and has been gaining weight. River was up for adoption until he growled over his food. When tested with a fake hand he showed stiff body language, growled and showed his teeth, so he gave plenty of warning. The problem is he was very underweight and has diarrhea every now and then so he might be sensitive to treats/food. He has been treated for parasites just in case.
We cannot put him up for adoption with this behavior. He needs a rescue to pull him and work with this behavior.
If you are an Animal Rescue and can take this pet, be sure to send us an email by Sunday night, 3/22/26, so I can make a note of it.
***Note: I am not in the office Wednesday but will check email as soon as I can.
