These animals are located at Iredell County Animal Services in Statesville, NC!
At this time, Iredell County Animal Services does NOT have transport “connections”, so it will be UP TO THE RESCUE wanting to pull the animal to coordinate transport!
If your rescue is interested in an animal, please email Amber at Rescu...@iredellcountync.gov and include: the animal’s name (and/or Animal ID#), your name, and the rescue group you are affiliated with!
If your rescue is new to pulling from ICAS or has not updated the Rescue Agreement since January 1, 2023, you MUST submit the Rescue Agreement paperwork before any hold or transport can be arranged.

Douglas is a 20-pound cockapoo who puts on a tough act in his kennel. When unfamiliar people approach his kennel, he may growl and retreat to the back, clearly overwhelmed by the shelter environment. The moment he’s leashed, he relaxes and is easy to handle. This morning he spent time in the Assistant Director’s office, and whenever someone came in, he ran straight to her and jumped into her lap looking for comfort. Our veterinary staff has handled him without any issues, and he has never attempted to bite. We truly believe Douglas is all bark and no bite—just a big scaredy-cat trying to look brave. Douglas is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up to date on vaccines and prevention. We also believe Douglas is housebroken. When Douglas met another dog on leash, he was a bit nervous and slightly avoidant, but both dogs sniffed all over each other without issue.If your rescue is able to help Douglas, please reach out to:Rescue claim needed by:📅 03/20/2026 at 4:30 PM**Once a rescue commits to pulling a dog(s)/cat(s), they have 2 business days to arrange transport to pick the animal(s) up from the shelter unless otherwise arranged with the animal placement coordinator. The hours for Rescue pickup are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm & Saturday, 11:00 am-2:00 pm.
If the rescue does not correspond with the animal placement coordinator for 24 hours post-commitment, the animal(s) will be offered to other rescues. **
