| Dear Frank Thanks, That's wonderful idea...! Feruzi and Wamai, please you are warmly welcome to participate, share, contribute and even sell your ideas / promote your products / etc to the public during the events. We need to bring together more groups based in TZ, organizations, Individuals, companies etc. Initially, we applied to Digital Freedom International to host an International SFD Summit, that means our local event was to be for two days and fully supported by DFI, among the three contestant (groups which applied), we were not selected as our budget was too high as per their financial status, and the group which won is from Tunisia (the same group which was among the top three best SFD event winners, IEEE ENIS Student Branch, Tunisia ). However due to unavoidable circumstances beyond their control, this SFD Summit has been postponed and will start next year, 2013. Among the activities we planned, Pre - Conference events includes offering almost free LPIC level 1 training to four regions in TZ, up to now we have support from three Colleges/ Universities, thats Arusha Technical College in Arusha, Ruaha University (Iringa), National Institute Of Transport (Dar), due to lack of communication, we could not finalize the same for Zanzibar. Revenue from these training will be used to fund the SFD Conference. LPIC Promotional materials will be sent to these three centers by tomorrow or by monday. So far Zalongwa Technologies Ltd is the only sponsor we have. We have Training Pack support from GIZ, and will pick them this afternoon. The main conference will be on 15th September and Initially we were looking at hosting the event at Blue Pearl Hotel, and now we have to change the plans. I will be talking to Jikka of Innovation Space ( He is an Open Source guy) to see if we can use their venue. If you have an idea of other venue that we can afford to get please advice. Also Darlene Parker, now based in Iringa, will bring her Freedom Toaster, to make the event more interesting, she has at her disposable lots of Open Source software. We are thinking of inviting Hon. January Makamba, as the guest of honor We are also inviting professionals to be main speakers, it will be great if we can invite friends whom we know can make the event grand success. Topics will be around Open Source Software, Software Freedom, FOSS in government, FOSS in education, FOSS in Business etc etc. We will get Team Pack from DFI to color the event. The Conference will include - Paper Presentation / Discussions - FOSS Cultural event ( Song for Software Freedom) - Networking and goodies - Series of FOSS short Technical Training - Promote FOSSFA www.fossfa.net - TAFOSSA Agenda This is how far we have gone, and you are warmly welcome to advice, assist and be part of the team.
