problem while installing ubuntu 8.04

I have installed ubuntu 8.04 it really look good and great thing about
it is it is free of cost. but in my computer it doesn't install
normally.I installed it inside windows, after restart i have to press
ESC and i have to select third option that is
Start installer with ACPI workaround (Only if you have ACPI problem)
what that mean. does it make any difference in operating system.
how can i install ubuntu 8.04 inside windows normally
