Dear Anthea
Good news! It’s now been four years since the only fracking attempt in the UK, which was abandoned following safety concerns.
Despite all of the Government’s efforts – from Osborne’s secret plans to back frackers to tax breaks for the industry – they’ve still not managed to frack anywhere in the UK since then. Clearly our efforts are working.
This is a huge achievement for the movement. It’s also a critical time for us to stand together and demand a frack free UK for good. Will you join the call?
Here are four ways to help keep the UK frack free on our four year anniversary:
Sign our petition asking Lancashire Council to say no to fracking
Print and put up this ‘I’m not backing fracking’ window poster
We need to use this anniversary to make some noise about fracking. We need to shout loud enough for Lancashire County Council to hear us – they will decide whether to allow fracking there in a matter of days and this decision could affect the future of fracking across the UK.
We also need to shout loud enough for our candidates to hear us before the General Election. With enough local opposition we can stop the new Government from pushing fracking through once they’re in power.
Anti-fracking groups and volunteers are running events across the country this weekend to make some noise and build support for a frack free UK. Please lend them a hand using the links above.
Thanks for standing with people across the country and helping to keep fracking out of Lancashire and out of the UK for good,
With hope,
Jenny and the fracking team
