media player is not working

hello friends in my ubuntu 10.10 sound is not playing..while i try to
play some music then it told me to add some plug in ..where i got
this,which sites

It is due to plugin. you have to install plugin.

If you have internet connection connect to internet and just play any music, it automatically search the plugin and ask for installation. you have to just click but remember  internet connection is necessary.

you need to install the codecs. play one of the music file and it will ask you automatically.
now be in internet and download it and install it. basically ubuntu does it automatic if internet is there.

since ubuntu supports the free and open source software only mp3 and other proprietery format are not supported initially, so user have to broke the stop piracy rule by itself by downloading codec.
