What is Chitwanix OS?

Chitwanix OS is an operating system software developed from Chitwan, Nepal using Linux Kernel which is based on Free Open Source Software. Operating System software means the main software that operates our computer hardware and help to operate other application software according to user requirement.

Very few people in Nepal use original Operating System and application software buying directly from vendor but 99% computer use pirated virus-injected cracked software from market with nominal price of Rs.100 per CD whose actual price is above Rs.10000. After wards they purchase and use license anti-virus software to protect the computer system which is already full of virus.

To stop this software piracy, danger of computer virus infection and unreliable software usage, Chitwanix OS is developed and distributed legally free to download from Internet, free to use – no licenses or cracker required to install and can share to friends.

Chitwanix OS had released its first version with code name Kadey Vyakur (Spiny Babbler) on September 21^st 2013. The naming convention is based on Nepal recognizing object, place, animal, person name starting with Nepali Letters Ka (क) Kha(ख) Ga(ग) … variation with respective version. Chitwanix OS version 1.5 Khukuri (Gurkha Blade) is in underdevelopment where side-wise Chitwanix OS is also converting into Nepali, Tharu, Newari, Gurung, Magar languages by communities.

Free is for Freedom. FOSS adopts Software as Service business model where client can use the software for free of charges but pays for problem troubleshooting, trainings and supports. Some clients use software as is and donate the project.

1. Chitwanix Professional Certification

   Chitwanix OS Certification Program is focused to certify the capable human resource whom are eligible to operate Chitwanix technology and support Chitwanix business users around the world. Certification are validate for two years & could be upgraded to new version accordingly after exam.

   1. Chitwanix Certified Installation Assistant (CCIA)

      CCIA certified person is capable of properly installing, re-install, upgrade, update Chitwanix and troubleshoot Chitwanix installation problem to any device as needed.

   2. Chitwanix Certified Office Assistant (CCOA)

      CCOA certified person is capable of properly operating office packages plus applications regarding day to day office computing with Chitwanix. CCIA certification is must to appear before CCOA.

   3. Chitwanix Certified Technical Assistant (CCTA)

      CCTA certified person is capable of properly installing, operating office packages plus applications, networking and troubleshooting regarding day to day office computing with Chitwanix. CCOA certification is must to appear before CCTA.

2. Chitwanix Student Partner (CSP)

   CSP Program is focused to grow leadership and personality development in students. Student who are recognized as CSP will develop environment inside and outside college about using Chitwanix technologies and its upcoming trends. They will convey, manage and lead the events along with community handling online or offline.

3. College Project for Chitwanix (CPC)

   In each semester or year end there is some assignment for the students which is research based and to build some application with it. CPC just asks for real life usage application or research which could be ported with Chitwanix and distributed to public use. The importance of assignment will be determine by the user who are the real judge. For the purpose Chitwanix Community will mentor the project online or offline as required and as feasible.

4. BSOD Trainings & Certifications

   Buy Self Own Drink is informal training and certification session of trending technologies i.e. programming, apps, arduino, robotics, hackathon, blogging, mapping, localization, opendata, mozilla, LTSP, chrome, & more… There may be many levels of training and trainer may be available from local expert or hired from. The operating cost is sponsored or divided to the participants.

5. Project Showcasing & Certifications

   Every year Chitwanix OS will showcase the developed application and concept inside college among students and parents. Student will demonstrate their concept or software to visitors and potential customers. They will prepare manuals, artworks, brochure and needed flayers to promote their project. Chitwanix OS will officially embed the stable showcased application in its next release around Nepal. This will happen once a year and certification will be awarded to best project whose impact is high enough. Student project will be participated to startups competition and Chitwanix Innovation competition too.

6. Contributing My Society (CMS)

   Student will volunteer to share their knowledge among their own society bodies i.e. schools, telecenters, vdc office, organization about secure computing and accessing information related to daily life usage. Certification will be granted to most dedicating and performing volunteer according the impact of the program.

7. Resource Distribution

   In every event conducted, active participants will get direct access to software collection of 30000. Students will be able to get new release and updates from Chitwanix Repo. Those who wants the T-Shirts, flayers, brochures, Labeled DVD, Laptop Stickers, Boot-able-drives, Books, Manual, EBook will available in nominal donation to Chitwanix.
