Julia is an exciting new language which combines the high level features of languages like Lisp with the efficiency of C/C++ ... it is mostly targeted at the Scientific computing community.

I haven't used Julia for statistical analysis, but if you have come across R, Is it better that R? when compared to the rich set of libraries.

R remains unchallenged at the moment because of its vast library ecosystem ... but Julia has a lot of potential ... you should definitely check it out!
