OK, the invites went out today, and I got a fabulous and unanimous positive response. A couple of the panelists suggested 2 other names and one of them, Sophia Parafina, was available and psyched to participate (the other - Kevin Pomfret - was not coming to MSP and had a conflict). I'm really pumped and hopefully this crew will be a draw to keep people around until the 4pm closing on Thursday (i.e., I'm assuming, as relayed earlier, that we'll be in the 4pm plenary session). So here's the lineup of speakers who have all accepted their invitations:
· Michael Terner, AppGeo, Moderator
· Eddie Pickle, OpenGeo
· Robert Cheatham, Azavea
· Sophia Parafina, Code for America
· Andrew Turner, Esri
· Eric Gunderson, MapBox
Here's the blurb I gave them on "what we'd be doing" in the invite:
My general plan is as follows:
· Each member gives a 3-5 minute "intro" and answers the question: "how does open source help my company make money?"
· Some follow-up questions from moderator/inter-panel Q&A
· Audience Q&A
Show time!
Please confirm with me how much time we will have. The Google doc said 45-60 minutes and the duration will make a difference in how I plan this out. Also, let me know what you want for an "abstract" of this session. How many words/sentences? I'm very encouraged by the positive response.
