Today I read a new topics in http://www.cassimatis.com/hlil.html

and knew that "Reasoning  Syntax, Semantics and Pragmatics" is possible. But How?

Objective

The goal of our lab is to achieve human-level computational intelligence and to explain the abilities of human intelligence.  We choose and evaluate research efforts primarily on how they help advance the ability of systems to do what people can and computers can't (yet).  Work in the lab is based on the Polyscheme and Cognitive Substrate theories.

Joining

We have funding for postdoctoral, graduate and undergraduate researchers to join the lab.  Email Nick Cassimatis to inquire about a joining.

Research Topics

  • Natural language understanding
  • Jointly Reasoning About Syntax, Semantics and Pragmatics
  • Difficult language: e.g., nonliteral, incomplete and ungrammatical language.
  • Natural Language Interfaces to Information
  • Integrating Probabilistic, SAT, Logical and Structured Inference Methods
  • Information visualization.
  • Understanding Other Minds
  • Identifying and Implementing a Cognitive Substrate
