Hi all,
The upcoming "FOSS Ka Kura" is scheduled to be held this Friday (24th
October) at Informatics College, Kathmandu. The date was fixed by the
guys at Informatics College as the day ensures maximum participation
and some useful discussion. Apart from the FKK, lets utilize this
event to discuss about our workplan, future strategies and all other
unresolved issues.

Surmandal is the contact-person if anyone wants to ask any questions -
I hope his reply will be coming shortly. Mr. Prashant Shrestha, one of
the FOSS pioneers of Nepal will also be present in the program. The
time, program schedule and format is yet to be decided. Let's discuss
on those issues as well. Jitendra, please inform about the
availability of IOE-FOSS team for this FKK, if possible.

I request everybody to please give your inputs, and to try to make it
to the event

Regards,
Bibek

since lots of student is new to FOSS, we need FOSS awareness Programme, maybe 20-30 min of Presentation on Linux/FOSS.. Then maybe question and answer related to FOSS/Linux. if we have free CD/DVD (of OS) and other material, we can distribute. Please let me know if we have free copy, Thanks.

I think this topic should be good and of practical use to the IT students. This presentation can go along with the General FOSS orientation as asked by Surmandal.

Well, that was my opinion. Please let us know what do you all think about this.

Since the upcoming trend in computing is to reduce boot time for OS and rely massively on web apps, we can focus some drills on above topics. Just a vague idea but small session showing how to reduce boot time or how to install online collaborative document editing tools like http://www.synchroedit.com/ on college LAN could be option.

I propose the time at 4:30 PM.

@Surmandal,
Please inform us if that is suitable to you guys. And could you please attach a location map to the college. I think many of us are unaware of the location of the college. And please, make sure about the projector.

Cheers,
Jitendra.

Ok, I would like to update all of you on my latest conversation with Surmandal.
He says that a presentation on FOSS/Linux so that new student can
understand about what it is and how it is beneficial needs to be made,
because many students there are new to this concept. And all IT
students' classes are in the morning shift, so it will be better to
start a Presentation session in morning (10-130 AM). Then, in evening
we can run the FKK. Maybe, after the presentation too, we can organize
the FKK?

Please comment.

I think many people will prefer FKK in the evening. And that is time suitable to Akash. So, lets keep it in the evening at 4:30 PM.

We can have orientation program in the morning though.
@ Surmandal, what time would be suitable for the morning session?

I have updated the details on tomorrow's FKK, Please check out following link
http://wiki.fossnepal.org/index.php?title=FOSS_Ka_Kura#Upcoming_FOSS_Ka_Kura

I would like invite people who are interested in Grid Computing, also people who are bored of following the same old Software engineering principles and software outsourcing business, bcoz I have something new, advanced and exciting concept for you, and finally peoples who want to change this country with FOSS, because this is the best way FOSS can hit the market. I would also like to invite newbies to this FKK because its really exciting and great concept to catch up and I promise it wont be geeky for a moment. See you all there..

Why not add FOSS News section into this FKK session. There are very remarkable FOSS initiatives/news occured recently in India, Russia, Nepal(Update about curriculum), and else.

I think Jitendra would be best/potential person. What u say Jitendra???
