How's the campus FOSS folks doing these days?

I've renamed our group to FOSS@IIT-BHU, while the ML and URL remains the same. How's the campus after an official IIT status?
Keep us posted on any workshops, interesting on campus activities.
I want some of the students to manage the group, do some basic workshops on opensource, Linux and continue the legacy.

To keep you posted about myself, I'm a paid Apache CloudStack (http://incubator.apache.org/cloudstack/index.html) developer which is in incubator right now. CloudStack is a mature and widely used opensource Infrastructure as a Service platform, hypervisor agnostic orchestrator. In my free time I try to contribute to VLMC/VideoLAN which is another opensource crossplatform video editor.

I welcome anyone to join us, I'll try to get CloudStack participate in GSoC next year and other events.
Feel free to hangout on #cloudstack on irc.freenode.net or get started here:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/CLOUDSTACK

Why? You've more than 100s of server lying around with the WMG (unsure if the name has changed).
If any of the students are interested in doing some project using those, they may contact WMG and can try CloudStack.

Let me know if you do any event around FOSS, I'll be happy to participate and even if I may not be able to physically conduct any workshop we can have a G+ hangout or something.

Regards.

Interesting to see an active FOSS community at IIT BHU. I am not a student at IIT BHU but my hometown is Varanasi. It would be amazing to get involved with the BHU community when I am around at home. Will be happy to see this mailing list active.

Thanks,
Vaidik

Hello,

I am Srijan, currently in 3rd Year Comp Sc. After the IIT status somethings have changed like we have 90% attendance rule being enforced strictly now(...:P), Gymkhana is being reframed with power shifting to students and the prof incharge is quite student friendly. New clubs are now being formed on the basis of IIT Kanpur Gymkhana structure and we managed to start a programming a club in college named CoPs (Club of Programmers). Me and with some other guys are managing it and planning on conducting various workshops (FOSS and other stuff) and events over the year. Various students are interested in being a part of FOSS and we hope we could contribute to Open Source Community as our seniors used to. Last week a coding competition was organized and many students participated in it. We are also planning to conduct Linux and Opensource workshops.
WMG is similar as it was before with similar administration so i am not sure if things can workout there.

I am interested in carrying it forward and hope various other students are also interested in it.

We will be very happy if you could take time for G+ hangouts.
Please tell me if I could do something.

This is some real improvement.

Great news, keep it up!

Nice.

:( bummer.

Fantastic, you're a manager of the group now and you may add or suggest other folks to continue the legacy.

We will be very happy if you could take time for G+ hangouts.

Alright, let's plan a google hangout some weekend, when and how that we can work out. Suggest topics on which folks there would like to have a hangout on.

Cheers.
