BITSFOSS, an initiative aimed at providing the students of BITS Pilani, a repository of FOSS software and open educational content, among other e-resources, has started a new service Newsletters. These  are a great way to learn about FOSS alternatives to popular software. 

Sent once a week, they will help you decide what software to use to meet your ends.

BITSFOSS maintains an archive of old newsletters, you can access them by following this link.
