Hi FoSL Members,

We are proud to announce the approval of a $3,935 FoSL grant to the Rural Health Care Initiative for improvements to the birth waiting homes in Tikonko and Gondama, Tikonko Chiefdom, Bo District.

The project benefits Tikonko Chiefdom in Bo District, Southern Province in Sierra Leone. The Birth Waiting Homes also support health outreaches to 16 surrounding villages and communities. Approximately 40,000 residents, including mothers, newborns and rural families, will benefit directly or indirectly. RHCI’s two Birth Waiting Homes (in Tikonko and Gondama, Tikonko Chiefdom) serve 320 mothers annually and act as hubs for health care outreach to surrounding villages. Years of heavy rains caused roof leaks, cracked walls, and unsafe wiring. These problems threaten safe lodging and disrupt the outreach clinic coordination. This project will repair roofs, walls, toilets, and kitchens.

RHCI is a great organization and we are happy to support another one of their projects! We wish them the best and we are excited to hear about their success!

Remember, your donations make project grants like this possible. Donate today at: www.fosalone.org

Be well,

The FoSL Board
