GRANT APPROVED: Head-Start Program - Kroo Town Road

Hi FoSL Members,

Last month, the FoSL Board voted to supported Freetown-New Haven Sister Cities and their Head Start–Style Early Childhood Program for Women & Children with a $4,000 FoSL grant. The goal of this project is to deliver high-quality, accessible early childhood education to the children of market vendors in Freetown, Sierra Leone, by establishing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate Head Start learning environment at Kroo Town Road Market. This initiative addresses a critical gap in early childhood education for working families, promotes school readiness for young children, strengthens family stability, and supports inclusive urban development. We wish them great success and we cannot wait to see updates!
