Subject: Fw: Josephs Letter to Potential Host Families
Dear Members and Friends,
The following letter is from Joseph who is the lucky young Sierra Leonean awarded a full scholarship including all expenses to attend high school in the U.S.
This is not a scam. We assisted a previous student find housing several years ago. You can google YES scholarship and read about it for verification. Or click on

You do not need to be a FoSL member to help this young man. Share this appeal with your family and friends. Please help this deserving young man on his way to achieving his goals and his dream!
Thank you,
Peggy
From Joseph:
Greetings,
I am Joseph, a 16-year-old student coming from the beautiful country of Sierra Leone. I am delighted at the opportunity of connecting with you (my American family) and offering a brief view into my world. Right now, I am in SS2, which is like the 11th grade. I really like English and Math—they make my school days interesting and fun!In my life, my family is very importantH. There are five of us, and we're really really close. My dad, JK, is a teacher at a Secondary School, and my mom, Nancy, is also a teacher. My siblings, Fanny and Joel, and I enjoy spending time together. We love sharing stories and laughing, especially during meals. It is like the special threads that keep us close.
At my house, I help keep things nice and friendly. I do chores like washing dishes, sweeping, and getting water. Doing these jobs together makes us feel like a team and makes our home happy and clean. Besides school and chores, I really love reading books. It's my way of escaping into different worlds. And playing football with my friends is so much fun! One of them is my best friend. He is super smart and really kind, which makes him extra special to me.
I come from a town in the southern part of Sierra Leone. It is not just a spot on the map; it is where my dreams start. In this place, my dreams begin to grow and unfold. I have this big dream of becoming a Medical Doctor. I want to help my community in a meaningful way. Studying hard is like the first big step to make this dream come true. I am really excited about learning and doing my part to make a positive difference.
I am usually quiet but really hardworking. I take my schoolwork and home responsibilities seriously. I believe that education is like a powerful tool—it is the key to opening doors to a better future. My big dream is to use this tool to become a doctor. I want to go back to Sierra Leone and make good things happen for the people there.
Basically, I am not just a student; I am a dreamer with really big goals. I am excited about becoming a part of your family and sharing the cool things about my culture. I can't wait to start this journey together, where we learn about each other's backgrounds and experiences.
Best wishes,
Joseph
