This year, the Maternal and Child Health Training Conference will be held at Magburaka Hospital in Tonkolili District. In collaboration with Helping Children Worldwide, the Healey International Relief Foundation and the Ministry of Health, this conference will take place in January of 2026. They will be teaching:
- Helping Mothers Survive Bleeding After Birth Complete
- Essential Newborn Care 1 & 2,
and have a morning lecture series that covers mental health topics. They will be training approximately 60 midwives, nurses, and maternal-child health aides from the Tonkolili District.
This will be the third iteration of a sustainable program that includes a ToT component with 6 new rising trainers from the Bo and Kenema district. This conference helps supplement the MoH's goal to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality and reach the SDGs by 2030 by equipping the human resources for health with the tools to address preventable causes such as postpartum hemorrhage and neonatal respiratory failure. Additionally, there is a LDHF component and refresher training incorporated after the completion of the conference to help promote retention of skills and knowledge over time.
We are proud to continue our support of the work Tenki, Inc. and its partners do for the communities throughout Sierra Leone!
We wish them the best of luck!
