Celebrate Peace Corps Week 2023 with Peace Corps Sierra Leone!

The theme of Peace Corps Week 2023 is “Connect with the World,” and the week’s activities will highlight and celebrate the lifelong connections fostered through the Peace Corps’ work. These connections lay the foundation for intercultural exchange, global collaboration, and lasting impact – all things that bring us closer to our mission of world peace and friendship.

As part of the week’s activities, Peace Corps Sierra Leone will be hosting a live virtual event beginning at 12:00 pm ET. Peace Corps staff, and where possible, Volunteers will be sharing updates on current country activities and the status of the return of Volunteers to service. There will also be ample time for questions and some fun and engaging activities. Register to attend this amazing opportunity to reconnect with your country of service and please share with fellow Sierra Leone RPCVs. Note that this event is open to friends, family, and anyone you know that might also be interested in serving in the Peace Corps, so please share.

In addition to the Peace Corps Sierra Leone event, there are some great other ways to celebrate this Peace Corps Week:

  • On February 28th from 12-1 pm ET, Peace Corps Director Carol Spahn will be participating in a live webinar along with Peace Corps staff, volunteers, and counterparts from Senegal, the Dominican Republic and Nepal. Register for the Connect with the World event and learn more about Peace Corps current work and the vision for its future.

  • On March 1st from 7-8 pm ET, the Peace Corps will be honoring the winners of the Franklin H. Williams Award, which celebrates the contributions of individuals of color whose work exemplifies the Peace Corps’ mission of world Peace and friendship. Register for the virtual award ceremony, which will include a keynote speech from this year’s Directors Award Winner, civil rights activist, journalist, and author Charlayne Hunter-Gault.

There are many other events, including events helping to recruit the next generation of Peace Corps Volunteers, listed on the Peace Corps website. Check out the full list of Peace Corps Week events and get familiar with currently available Peace Corps and Peace Corps Response Volunteer opportunities.

Finally, please consider sharing on your social media platform of choice during this year’s Peace Corps Week using the hashtags below. Connect with the World by telling a story about your service, sharing one of the week’s events or letting others know how your Peace Corps experience contributed to your career or community engagement today. Or follow one of Peace Corps’ social media accounts, on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, and like or share our posts.
