Grant Approved: Tenki for Born Maternal Conference

Hi FoSL Members,

Friends of Sierra Leone is proud to announce our support for the, always successful, Maternal and Child Health Training Conference, this year in Bo at the School of Midwifery from May 11th through 15th, 2026. This $4,000 grant will greatly benefit the communities in and around Bo. 

In collaboration with Helping Children Worldwide, the Healey International Relief Foundation, and the Ministry of Health (MoH), this conference will provide intensive clinical instruction, including: 

- Helping Mothers Survive: Bleeding After Birth Complete (a curriculum for the prevention and management of postpartum hemorrhage, the leading cause of death for mothers in childbirth)

- Essential Newborn Care: Modules 1 and 2 (a curriculum for ensuring the survival of newborns)

- Mental Health Lecture Series: Dedicated morning sessions covering critical maternal mental health topics. 

This project includes a Training of Trainers (ToT) component for six rising trainers from the Bo and Kenema and now Tonkolili districts.
