Greetings Fellow-FOSL Members:
Let me add my voice to that of others and congratulate His Excellency Mohamed Barrie on his new appointment as SL's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I will provide a backgrounder on how I
joined FOSL and, thereafter, how Mohammed and I developed a firm friendship and partnership over the years:
As a Sierra Leonean-American, I vowed to join FOSL in the '90s when I was moved by the fantastic work RPCVs Tim Curley and Martha Saldinger were doing for SL on behalf of FOSL. In 1997, they held Advocacy Day in the halls of Congress and
there and then, I was triggered to start the National Organization of Sierra Leoneans in North America (NOSLINA). I subsequently became a Board member of FOSL, as well, at the turn of the century.
Mohamed has served faithfully on the Board of NOSLINA, representing the New England states, as had FOSL VP Aiah Fanday who was NOSLINA Treasurer for several years. Attached is a photo of (from left) Dr. Albert Senesie, FOSL member and
NOSLINA Board member, Mohamed and myself taken on the lawn of Mohamed's Boston home.
Again, hearty congratulations Mohamed! I have the full confidence great things lie ahead for the relationship of Saudi Arabia and Sierra Leone under your Ambassadorship.
Fraternal regards,
Kwame
