Sir, looks we still living in a cage!!! That’s why we received NOTICE to members, which look not noble to. I think you believe we are not slaves or servant of PIFFA? And I hope PIFFA hold their name with the power of members.
From my end we totally disagree with below proposal. Whatsoever the decision needs to be made with the understanding of 400 member, instead to have instruction from those who in positions & trying to impose their unilateral decisions.
I hope you understand, pls do consider & ask members for EGM on such matter.

Dear All,
The matter regarding renewal of Membership issue was discussed in depth during the 6th EC Meeting. It has been decided that the imposition of full Marine Umbrella Insurance would be too onerous to impose on the Membership at this stage. Also the matter of cost has to be kept into consideration, as a vast majority of our Members will not be able to sustain the burden:
1- The need to come across as a professional and responsible forwarder in order to thwart the pressure of Trade has to be a step in the right direction. It has therefore been resolved as follows:
(a) Full Umbrella Insurance would be deferred till such time that we are able to organize this subject both internally and externally with the Insurance Company(s)
(b) As a first step, all Companies that are issuing transport documents would be required to subscribe to door-to-door insurance. Such insurance is available with all “AAA” rated insurance companies.
(c) All Pakistan origin transport documents must adopt the FIATA Bill of Lading clauses found on the reverse of the bill of lading and if possible in the same shape. A Copy of bill of lading is being attached. This will enable Member Companies to enjoy ‘same’ rates and conditions on Insurance.
(d) Companies issuing foreign origin bills of lading would be required to furnish proof of insurance, a copy of such policy would be sufficient.
(e) All bills of lading will be registered with PIFFA and a PIFFA Registration Number will be issued, to be mentioned on all bills of lading as proof of being fully complaint in terms of Conditions of Carriage and Insurance. (Applicable to both domestic and foreign origin bills of lading)
2- In dealing with the Membership and Insurance issues in the interim it has been decided that:
(a) Compliance on all matters and in particular the insurance of bill of ladings, have been deferred for a period of 60 days. All Membership Renewal Certificates will be issued subject to provision of the following:
· Signed Undertaking Form as per attached annexure
· Copy (sample) of bill of lading to be used by the member company. (this incorporates the FIATA conditions of carriage and will attract the lowest tier of insurance). The text to be printed on the reverse is also in the attachment.
(b) Once the above is received, the Certificates will be released immediately.
The PIFFA Secretariat Office Karachi and Regional Office Lahore have been briefed in detail about this project and full support will be provided to the Members.
Arrangements will be made with printers to print them for any/all the members and special rates will be negotiated to facilitate the use of PIFAA approved drafts. All you would do is, get them printed, get them registered, get them insured and you are ready to issue your own bill of lading.

Dear ALL,
I already send a separate email to raise the issue with objection that we must not hold the membership of our respected members of PIFFA, to General Secretary as a EC member and I did not had his confirmation almost a week….!!! After my several call he replies that we passed my email to Mr. Chairmen Mr. Nadeem Khan and he is waiting for Mr. chairman reply on said issue….. after my other call he said till this day Mr. Chairman did not replied so he cannot say anything on below issue and when I asked him that you are miss-respecting EC member not even giving me reply nor endorsing my EMAIL sent on below issue than he replied he received my mail…!!!
Now you peoples have to understand what is going on in PIFFA house…….. this is time to raise our voices…!!!
You all must aware that myself as a EC member agreed that if any member of PIFFA want get his B/L insured than let him handle individual not by “Notice” served by Mr. Chairman. We must respect our member in decent manners at all.

While going through all the exchanges, first of all Piffa should release the membership certificate since members paid the dues before the deadline. There is no justification to hold it. Any new proposal should be discussed amongst the members through EGM before imposing. It is not the matter of small or big, as being member everyone has equal rights.
It is imperative to hold the meeting to discuss the issue.

While going through all the exchanges, first of all Piffa should release the membership certificate since members paid the dues before the deadline. There is no justification to hold it. Any new proposal should be discussed amongst the members through EGM before imposing. It is not the matter of small or big, as being member everyone has equal rights.
It is imperative to hold the meeting to discuss the issue.

I am also agree with the point mentioned by majority of PIFFA members in their following emails.
Secondly, may I request PIFFA secretariat to provide us the copy of EC minutes of the meeting on behalf of which PIFFA secretariat is demanding Marine Umbrella Insurance or the under taking from the members in which they have impose compulsory for the members to renewal their membership.
As a member of PIFFA we want to know which EC member has given this proposal of Marine Umbrella Insurance or under taking and which EC member second him and how many EC members were in the favor of this proposal and how many member opposed it.
Awaiting for the reply from PIFFA.

I myself observing the situation seem very awkward for many of us,
Irrelevant to the question whether Insurance is necessary or not, Secretariat should improve implementation to a respectful manner.
Like registration with SRB was more important & difficult task (To Get registered with local tax collection body) but it was implemented by proper communication
& majority got registered there without holding Membership renewals.
It proves trust deficit among Members & Office bearers who lacks confidence to communicate & convince, adopts AN EASY WAY to reform.
Whereas generally it's assumed "A PLOT by Few Mercedes Group Forwarders".
Secondly one more thing I couldn't understand
Notice to Members contains emphasis to adopt Full Marine Umbrella Insurance whereas undertaking draft contains complete evaluation of forwarding firms
When task is to adopt Marine Umbrella insurance we should focus to Core objective,
Questionaire/Undertaking Whether one forwarder has the due status of custom broker, shipping agent, NVOCC is relevant to this task???
I would be grateful if one explains, I lack its understanding

Thank you for your detailed explanation on the steps taken for implementation of Marine Insurance Policy.
While we understand that this is a positive step from PIFFA, we do have some reservations as well which we believe is our right.
- A proper workshop should be arrange to highlight the benefits for obtaining Marine Insurance to all members. This will enable us understand the complete Pros & Cons of this facility.
- Marine Insurance cover should not be enforced on all members, and should be decision of company if they want to avail this facility or not. Companies can decide based on their requirements.
We hope that association will also agree and cooperate with small / medium sized members.
