Dear Members,

I narrate the case for better understanding.

Employee A was absconded from duties from Jan-16. Employer had not disbursed his salary for the month of Jan-16.

Is the employer liable for payment of provident fund against this employee salary for Jan-16?

Please help in this scenario

Regards,

Harish

If the salary is due and payable and debited in employer's books then PF was due to be deposited by 15th Feb.

Yes
On accrual basis entry to be made
PF remittance is for the month to which salary pertains
Delay can attract interest and penalty.
