REQ Help SQLBASE will not start

We have a Centura sqlbase installation that will not start after a
server crash
Problem is below
the registry entries appear to be correct although there seem to be
a lot of files listed in the registry as shared which are not in the
place it indicates
Event viewer shows
The Centura SQLBase service failed to start due to the following
error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a
timely fashion.
I have also found a fail.sql file which shows
Error 10901 while processing message.sql
Could someone please advise where to look next?
