I have comdll=sqlapipe,comdll=sqlntnbi,comdll=sqlora32 under
[win32client.dll]
and [oragtwy]
Remotedbname=test,@T2 where T2 is the Instance.I can connect using SqlPlus
and Ping too. I have just 1 copy of Sql.ini.When i connect using SqlTalk,i
get
"9279 GCI error Cannot find specified protocol Entry".
Any help is appreciated.I'm on Sql*Net 2.3.4.
Thanks
Sandhya
- Pls try to remove the entries comdll=sqlapipe and comdll=sqlntnbi. It is
possible that the error occurs when loading these protocols.
- Do you use the 16bit or the 32bit of the Centura software? If 32bit then
check that the SQLNet for WinNT is installed; if 16bit then install the
16bit version of Oracle Sqlnet (this is the setup in the \windows folder).
- T2 is the Instance? Make sure that the SQLNet alias, in the Oracle config
file tnsnames.ora, is also set to T2.
The suggestion >try: remotedbname=test,@TNS:T2 is for Sqlnet V1. It will not
work for Sqlnet V2; the version that you use.
Pls reply to my email addr as well.

I think its the Oracle error message ORA-12154 and this is related to
SQL*Net.
Look at your SQL*Net documentation
Tom
You are progressing! The centura software has established an interface with
the oracle software on this client.
The error ora-12154 (the centura error is x += 20000)
MEANS:
ORA–12154 TNS:Could not resolve service name
ACTION:
The service name specified is not defined in the TNSNAMES.ORA file.
Make the following checks and correct the error:
* Verify that a TNSNAMES.ORA file exists and is in the proper
place and accessible. See the operating system specific manual
for details on the required name and location.
* Check to see that the service name exists in one of the
TNSNAMES.ORA files and add it if necessary.
* Make sure there are no syntax errors anywhere in the file.
Particularly look for unmatched parentheses or stray characters.
Any error in a TNSNAMES.ORA file makes it unusable. See
Chapter 4 in the SQL*Net Administrator’s Guide. If possible
regenerate the configuration files using the Oracle Network
Manager.
=> It means that the reference to the sqlnet alias in the centura file
sql.ini does not match the sqlnet alias in the oracle file tnsnames.ora.
Checked for spaces, before and after?
=> Try sql*plus again and explain in detail what data you fill in
(db,user,pwd?).
Kind regards,
Rolf H.
