WHITECONCEPTS in cooperation with the nhow Gallery proudly present the exhibition Jimi Hendrix und das Love-and-Peace-Festival.A documentation by Frauke Bergemann on the occasion of the 5th European Month of Photography in Berlin. In 1970, thousands of music enthusiasts flocked to the Baltic Sea island of Fehmarn in the hope of a German Woodstock. When Jimi Hendrix finally appeared on the final day, in bright sunshine – for his last concert before his death a week later in London –the trip to the island remains an unforgettable musical experience for most of those who attended. On 27th November 2012 Jimi Hendrix would have celebrated his 70th birthday. To mark the anniversary, the artist Frauke Bergemann presents previously unpublished photos that bring the historic event to life. About 120 photographs offer insight into the reality of the German 1968 generation.
Kalle Freynik toured in his youth with the group CITY PREACHERS (guitar, sax, harmonica) throughout Germany, East Germany, Scandinavia, France, the United Kingdom and had solo shows at the legendary Hamburg STAR CLUB. Since 1971 he has been a producer and screenwriter for film and TV.
PLASTIC VOODOO BAND - the JIMI HENDRIX tribute project based in the city of Berlin. Featuring Stefan Henning on guitar and vocals, Thomas Wolfram on bass and vocals and Robert Puls on Drums, this unique three-piece band plays the music of one of the greatest musicians of all times with the possibilities of today’s technical options. For the concert at nhow Berlin, celebrating Jimi’s 70th birthday, the PLASTIC VOODOO BAND will collaborate with L.A. based soul-singer SHON ABRAM. This is not a cover-show, this is a concert of four musicians paying tribute to an unbelievable guitar player, a great songwriter and an inspiring artist: JIMI HENDRIX.
